Isn't this basically a form of discrimination?

MSNBC and CNN are equally guilty as Fox News but I'll admit my bias in declaring Fox News the worst. I'd rank them the same as Cats.....Fox, MSNBC, then CNN. All three lean heavily in their respective directions but I think Fox News goes above and beyond to declare their disgust and disagreement with Obama/Democrats/Liberals. And no, I do not think Fox News is racist for doing so(Hannity is another story though...and I thought he was racist before Obama was the president as well.) Just throwing that out there before I have to hear that complaint again.

No news here...but it's interesting to hear that someone actually admitted to it.

Just wanted to remind everyone what this thread started out saying. By the admission of the TV execs, it goes a long way in proving what many have been saying for the last 40-50 years about TV, Hollywood and what is referred to as the main stream media.

I think MSNBC is in a class all by itself in showing bias. Fox and CNN are about the same.

I watch all 3 and they do actually report real news. They just spin it to how they want you to hear/see it.

 

Link TV on satellite is biased more than any when they show Middle Eastern News. They all bash Israel, but it is interesting to see both sides to the story though.

The article talks of things like homosexuality, marijuana use, things like that. Think of a super hero, what is one of the most appealing things about them? They don't use or need guns, a liberal issue.

Yeah, like Iron man and the Green Lantern. Or laser vision or a huge hammer to smash people or metal claws.

News has always been bias and obviously way WAY to the left. Bash Fox news all you want but they are facing MSNBC, CNN, Huffington, New York Times and the biggest bias news outlet of all, Hollywood. Fox and CNN are about even keel as far as their bias goes. They are also the only right wing News outlet on TV.

The irony in all of this is that MSNBC is in Harrodsburg today at Corning where I work getting info for a story to air on their network. Guess I'll be tuning in for that in the near future. Maybe I'll get caught on camera. I have on my burnt orange BGP t shirt today.

Like Cats said, for entertainment purposes you pretty much have to push a liberal agenda in Hollywood if you want to make money or create a brand.

We need someone to be sneaky like Shapiro did and get the tv executives to admit that they have been discriminating against black actors and actresses in Hollywood also.

Absolutely. The roles for black actors and actresses are not anywhere near as abundant. Ask any black actor or actress. I just recently read an interview with Tristan Wilds(currently co starring on 90210 and formerly of The Wire) and his complaint with Hollywood is the lack of roles for black actors. Turn on your tv to a local network for evidence. Or tune into any movie not made by Tyler Perry and count the black actors or actresses in a major movie. Even in the current hit Bridesmaids the character getting married is black but all of her friends are white. You telling me one black actress couldn't be a bridesmaid? The truth is that movies that have a predominately black cast don't make much money and therefore aren't made. Wouldn't that be the same form of discrimination the right is facing with this liberal agenda being pushed?

 

To be honest discrimination has been going on a long long time in Hollywood. If we can have a guy get tv execs to admit that a liberal agenda is being pushed in Hollywood then how can we get the execs to admit discrimination against blacks in Hollywood because that is clearly evident as well.

PP92 - IMO Hollywood is not discriminating against blacks. They're discriminating against low ticket sales. If they thought a movie filled with black actors and actresses would sell a lot of tickets then the screen would be filled with people of color.

There is more to it than ticket sales, IMO but that is a part of it. The Cosby Show proved that a predominately black sitcom can flourish. Denzel Washington has shown that a black actor can flourish in any role. Halle Berry is another. Is there even a black sitcom on a major network besides The Cleveland Show? It can be done. Columbus Short could play every role that Matt Damon does just as well as Matt Damon but without the same opportunities we'll never know.
