You're right. These guys all broke through so there obviously isn't any racism at all in Hollywood. They only discriminate against conservatives. :thumb:

 

You're taking my argument to the extreme and missing what I am trying to say. I understand the Hollywood is out to make money argument. I get that. I also think and believe that if the mentality is 'no one will watch black people so it won't make money and they won't be in my film/sitcom' is a racist train of thought. Whether that is the cold truth or not to exclude a person because of their race and not their ability is discrimination isn't it?

 

I didn't say there isn't any racism in Hollywood, there's racism towards both whites and blacks in every avenue. I just don't see it as being nearly as prevalent as you seem to think it is.

 

My point with those guys is simply, if you're good enough at your craft, you'll not only find work, but major roles in major films/shows.

I don't disagree completely. I just think racism plays a bigger part in who gets those roles more than you think it does.

 

Denzel Washington is likely the greatest or one of the greatest black actors ever yet when he finally won an Oscsr it was for playing a thug in Training Day. Considering his roles in Glory and Malcolm X he played a stereotypical thug and won an Oscar for it. Irony?

Do we consider the music industry as inclusive in the Hollywood argument? Because if we do, I think the numbers tilt a little more and kind of even out. I think the whole entertainment industry as a whole should be considered, not just movies and TV.

 

I think the music industry is a completely different animal and does a tremendous job of taking advantage of each and every singer/rapper that they can. I don't think they discriminate at all. They try to get over on everybody.

Also, I am sure Johnny Depp has kicked someone out of the top spot. I just noticed that the grossing numbers on your chart were very close to the US Box Office on my chart and not worldwide.

 

They are both good charts. It was kind of funny seeing how successful some people's movies have been. Sam Jack has been in 84 movies to hold the top spot in both links while Will Smith has been in 18 movies and is a good movie or two away from passing Sam Jack. Will Smith is movie gold and Sam Jack has to be the hardest working man in Hollywood.

 

Steve Buscemi's movies have grossed more than Denzel's movies and Seth Rogen is 10 million away from passing Denzel.

Best Supporting actor. My fault. Denzel is a lead guy to me. I forgot Glory was a supporting role.

 

I never watched Scent of a Woman. Was his performance in there one of his best ever? Malcolm X was likely Denzel's best performance ever, IMO.

Sam also has Iron Man 3 coming out as well as any other movie that has to do with the Avengers(Captain America and its sequels, Thor, Hawkeye and Hulk). He plays Nick Fury so this will do nothing but add to his list. Also, if Star Wars, especially episdode II and III comes out in 3D like Lucas is wanting, this will also add. I don't see him leaving that top spot for a while.

I like Buscemi and I love Seth Rogen. Just thought it was kind of funny to see their box office gross compared to Denzel's. You'd think Denzel would have made a whole lot more than them until you look at all of the movies Buscemi has been in.
