Track the Western Conference Finals - Mavs Vs Thunder

I'm starting to agree about Westbrook. I've seen it brought up in other places a couple times about the Thunder possibly shipping him to the Hornets for CP3. If that happened, which I see highly unlikely, they'll win multiple rings.

That would be best for all parties involved IMO. Westbrook will figure it out but he's always going to have to get his shots to be effective because he's a scoring PG. Paul would do alot for OKC. He would make Ibaka a threat to score double figures, ala CP3 & Tyson Chandler's pick and roll for the ally-oop the Hornets used all the time a few years ago. However I don't think they'll pull the trigger on it. CP3 may be determined to get to a big market.

How do you guys feel about the Rose & Westbrook comparison? Eye-ball tests says that Rose is the better, at least to me. Hollinger just put up some advance metrics that show they they are essentially the same guy, even suggesting that if they traded places their roles would be reversed in terms of public perception. If given the choice I'd take Rose every time, but I would be interested in seeing how Rose would do with another star on his team, and how Westbrook would do with his own team.

I think Rose is heads and shoulders better, but I'm admittedly bias. Some guys are just really likeable, and Rose fits that bill for me.

Too hard to tell. Rose has to shoot 25 shots a game so he does. Westbrook doesn't have to shoot 25 games but he does. It is definitely an intriguing thought. I like Rose and Westbrook but I don't blame last night's loss on Westbrook. I blame it on Kevin I-didn't-score-any-points-in-the-last-10-minutes-of-the-game Durant. He panicked. 3 seconds left and he shoots a 30 footer that gets blocked? Weak minded and weak physically. Like Cats said also, he has disappeared late in the games this series.

I disagree though.....he'll get a pass this year but if the Thunder don't win the West next year(not the title, just the West) then his ability to win will be called into question. The Thunder should win the West next year. They'll definitely be the favorites. If they don't win the West next year it will be his fault like it was TMac's, Kobe's, LBJ....etc etc. Comes with the territory.

End of games in this series KD has been pathetic IMO. The shot at the end of the regulation scared to fight for position closer to the basket.

I get sick of hearing about Westbrook and him getting all the blame is what I'm saying. He's taking some tough shots, but KD and Harden are horrible about getting open late in games. All three have come up short in this series.

It's hard to get a shot when your PG's idea of an offensive set is dribble right, dribble left, pull up and clank one off the rim.

I don't think it is that close between Rose and Westbrook, but a big part of that is Westbrook as part of a team versus Rose. I just do not like Westbrook's game. The other big factor for me in Rose's favor is he is incredible taking it to the rim. He gets a little out of control and forces it on occasion but I have seen him make shots on drives that no one else could do, including LBJ.

That is not his job and shouldn't be put in that situation.

I can't even count how many times that has happened. It's been A LOT.

But couldn't that be a result of KD's inability to get open? I'm not the only person of this mindset, I've seen a few suggest that on TV and in print over the course of this series.

I hate to see OKC blow a huge opportunity but they are making the transition from playoff contender to title contender but they still have a ton of maturing to do. Westbrook is ultra talented but he doesn't have the makeup of a true PG. It's hard to take a guy with a scoring mentality and make him a PG. He's a SG in a PG body and that hurts the Thunder. Now on to Dirk, the guy has been unreal. I would love to watch him work out, his up and under moves and the ability to drain those acrobatic shots are something you just don't see from a seven footer.

What about Westbrook at 2 guard for much of the game? That's really what he is and he has the athleticism to play the position. He's undersized but so is DWade. I don't think Maynor would be a bad option at the 1 for them. The fix could be internal. If Westbrook is off the ball for stretches of the game I think he'd be more effective. JMO

I agree, that is his natural position. Many people forget this is really only his second year to ever play PG. He is a big, athletic 6'4" guy. In college Darren Collison was the UCLA PG. Last season was the first he took over at PG in the NBA.

Not to get far off subject, but talk about a perplexing coaching job, how did Ben Howland not win a title with Westbrook, Collison, Love, Mbuh-Amute (sp?), and Josh Shipp?

Because they had to play the Florida squad with Noah, Horford, Brewer, Humphrey and Green. Florida beat them in the championship game in '06 and the semis in '07.
