May 18, 201115 yr Durant and Westbrook shot 37 Ft's combined last night, refs were tight on both ends, IMO. Yeah...Durant was 18-19 from the stripe himself. I'd hate to see his FT numbers when the refs were giving him a break. OKC actually shot 7 more FT's as a team.
May 19, 201115 yr History: Adrian Dantley once had 50 points while making only 12 FGs. Doesn't happen very often.
May 19, 201115 yr While a plausible argument, Durant has already advanced two rounds further in the playoffs than McGrady ever has made it and was the unquestionable leader of team USA in winning gold last summer at the FIBA games. How many other all-stars did TMac go into a playoff series with? A hurt Grant Hill? Yao maybe once? If TMac had a young all-star like Westbrook beside him, a team like the Thunder have around them, and played in this Western Conference he'd have won a series as well. The USA stuff has never impressed me. We should win the gold every single time, we have the best pro league in the world with the majority of the stars in that league being from America.
May 19, 201115 yr Am I wrong in thinking that he is the best player on the Thunder to guard Dirk? Just as tall, long arms, appears to be athletic enough to keep up with him. Oh yeah, he is allergic to defense. Yep, young TMac. I didn't watch a whole lot of this game. Was KD even guarding Dirk? I think I'd double Dirk with Ibaka and KD and then have Sefelosa and Harden take turns locking Terry down and make Kidd and Marion beat me. Seems like it will take someone like Joakim Noah to effectively guard Dirk. If that is possible. He's also so weak he'd make Dirk look like the incredible Hulk. Durant needs to hit the weights or go find Barry Bonds trainers and get some roids.
May 19, 201115 yr I saw this on twitter yesterday. TMac(5th year) and Durant(4th year) at the age of 22 are eerily similar. http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&p1=duranke01&y1=2011&p2=mcgratr01&y2=2002

TMac was a better 3 point shooter, rebounder and especially passer at this stage of his career. He was also a better defender.
May 19, 201115 yr  Here I was expecting to find a thread about the Western Conference Finals and I somehow stumbled into a "Cats' personal vandetta against Durant" thread.
May 19, 201115 yr  Here I was expecting to find a thread about the Western Conference Finals and I somehow stumbled into a "Cats' personal vandetta against Durant" thread. Hmmm, he plays on the Thunder doesn't he? They are in the Western Conference finals, no? Who is that 6'10" guy that OKC is running their offense for? This started with the quote that KD had a quiet 40 points in game one, but HT must have been mistaken since that has nothing to do with the WCF. Help me out here UKMF........

Anyways, it isn't possible for me to disagree with you any more than I do. 3-4 years down the road when the Thunder have at least one title under their belts will you admit you were wrong? Or will you give Westbrook the credit? I still say Thunder take it in 6. Way too athletic for the Mavs and Dirk isn't going to have another once in a lifetime like game like he did in game 1.
May 19, 201115 yr Author I don't really seem him as a T-Mac kind of guy simply for one reason. He wants to win. T-Mac didn't care about anything it seemed.

I'll be the first to give him credit when he expands his game. Winning a title will not change my mind if he's still just a scorer.
May 19, 201115 yr Dirk has easily been the best player in the playoffs so far. Jason Terry has been lights out as well. Dallas is undefeated at home in the playoffs. The Thunder are as helpless as the Lakers were at guarding Dirk. The Mavericks even have more experience than the Thunder. The Mavs are playing like they are indeed the best team in the West. I'll be shocked if the Thunder win more than one game in series against the Mavericks let alone win the series.

That is because he has a lazy eye so he looked like he didn't care. I seem to recall him getting emotional more than once about his yearly first round exits. I think TMac was better than Durant. Would have loved to have seen him and a healthy Yao in the playoffs.

TMac had a much more complete game though IMO. Dirk has easily been the best player in the playoffs so far. Jason Terry has been lights out as well. Dallas is undefeated at home in the playoffs. I think OKC can win up to 3 games, but I think at some point Dallas will knock them out.
May 19, 201115 yr I am still not sold on OKC or young teams for that matter. They need to win 8 more games for me to believe in them.
