If Hank Jr had a song decrying the loss of individual rights and explained that the govt had better be careful in how it infringes on individuals' rights and used an example of a homeowner maybe whipping out the shotgun when the lawman shows up would we be decrying him or country music OR would we be listening to the message he is trying to deliver?

I could go on and on about the rap game. That is one subject that I probably know more about than anything else. The 90's was the Golden Era of rap. It will never go back to the quality of what it was then and I blame Puff Daddy, P Diddy, Diddy aka Sean Combs. It is all his fault. After Biggie was murdered the rap game changed and not for the better. I still love rap/hip hop though.

Yes. The shiny suit raps. The mainstream raps. The pop rap. Yep. Sean Combs did that. All rappers seemed to shoot for the top of the Billboard charts starting 1997. 50 Cent and Eminem have been the best at releasing pop rap for the masses and still appealing to old rap/hip hop heads such as myself. Jay-Z is likely the most overall successful rapper ever and while he has been successful in the mainstream I wouldn't consider him a pop rapper in the mold of 50, Eminem and even Kanye West. Lil Wayne and Jay-Z are similar in that aspect as they enjoyed tremendous underground success before finding success in the mainstream which never appeared to be a desired goal of either two. I think Eminem(Em and 50's first albums being the exceptions) 50 and Kanye all strive for more mainstream success opposed to just releasing a good hip hop album. Success is dictated by platinum sales now. Getting a gold album used to be a big deal in the 90's. I meant you made it and that your album was dope. Nowadays it is the end of your career and your album had a bunch of commercial flops on it. The game has changed.

I will ask though. Do you believe that some Obama hate is because of his race? Are you in the belief that some people who disagree with Obama aren't doing so because of his race?

 

I certainly believe many did (and some still do) dislike Obama simply due to his race; just as many love him strictly due to his race (after all there really was no track record to go on?) Thinking now a majority of his critics are due to his politics and policies. I also think its quite possible to disagree with a man/women of color without being racially motivated--A concept very foreign to many in the press/media??

I just assumed Bill and Bernadette where in from Chicago and the Obama's wanted appropriate entertainment for them.

I have already stated that the same number love him for his race as do those that hate him for his race. I would like to see some links to the media outlets that label those who disagree with Obama as racist so I can form my own opinion on it. I keep hearing people complain about it but when I watch the news or read the paper I don't see anything pertaining to racism when it comes to those who disagree with him and I am a solid liberal and get all of my info from the left wing media. I have seen many people on message boards, Facebook and comment sections of editorials have that fight but not any media outlets.

I've seen multiple interviews where that was suggested but I don't know that it was the host/interviewer making the charge. Other than not challenging it I don't know that the media/press drives the idea.

Well the NJ State police have a problem with him apparently. I really wouldnt want my kids to be influenced in any ways by him. Yes teens are different, but little kids have a very impressionable mind and can be easily persuaded. seems Mrs. Obama has an agenda to carry on race issues and hate IMO. So yeah go ahead and disagree, but I would love for GURU to weigh in on how the police feel.
