Calif. Prep Coach caught on Video...cheating

Featured Replies

They aren't at Beechwood, they have to be on the the opposite side of the field from the pressbox.

I see.

I think its a good idea for chain crews to be on the opposite side of the field from the home team, if at all possible.

I didn't see the coach move the stick. I saw the stick holder move it. Did I miss it?

Yes, I saw it on the news tonight and they blew up that portion. The coach was dressed in black and he was squatting down. He grabbed the marker low down and moved it back a foot or two.

I see.

You should be able to trust the home coaching staff.

What was the outcome of that particular play, I mean I saw the stick moved but never saw whether the ball was spotted ahead for the first down or not. Anyway, I can not believe that the chain crew member holding the stick knew nothing happened, also what about the Head Linesman and Line Judge?

HA hahaha

He grabbed it...

moved it..

the chain crew member was holding on to it when the coach moved it

the coach then looked down to the spot he moved it too.

NO DOUBT> haha....busted.

I don't think the team won a state championship. They won their league and lost in the LA city quarterfinals. Still despicable though...the guy should not be allowed to coach at that school anymore.

Maybe I just don't get it. But the Chain Markers are tied with a Chain. If you move one side it doesn't matter. You still have the other side in place. You can't move the sticks more than ten yards because they would all ready be tight. You can move one side to the shorter side but then the chain is not tight. The ref should be able to see that the chain looks like an S. Am I missing something here?

You may be right, I was going by what I heard on the news, they said the team was allowed to keep their championship trophy. I made an assumption (I know, I know) that it was a state championship but it could have been a city, regional, etc. trophy they were talking about.

The team was going for a first down and while the pile up was being sorted out, the coach moved the front marker back a foot or two. The ref looked over from the spot to see if it was a first down or not. But the sideline ref could have caught it if he had looked closely at the chain, but apparently he didn't.

I don't think that there is any doubt the chain guy knew. However, you have a 22 year coach doing something like that in a crucial situation. You may be just a guy wanting to be a part of the program. You are probably young and may be intimidated somewhat by him and worry of repercussions if you say anything. I could see why he kept his mouth shut. Doesn't make it right, but there's no way he couldn't know.

If I recall, about 3 years ago didn't we have a thread on a chain crew which would listen to the opposing coach call the plays and then send signals over to the other team to let them know what play was going to be ran? Or did I just imagine that... :creepy: :D

The coach that moved the chain reminded me of something that Luther VanDam would have done on the TV show Coach.
