After Shaq left they were on hard times for a few years, its shaping up to be like back to those days. At least I hope so anyway.

 

Hard times by LA standards. Nothing like what Boston went through for much of the late 90s and parts of the 2000s, or the Cavs & Raptors (Raptors), Knicks, Clippers etc. the last few years. I'm talking 30 wins max. That would be awesome.

I'm not really sure how I will feel about the Lakers after Kobe is gone it is going to be a very strange feeling for me. I don't feel like I can like another player like I do Kobe.

Who is going to win the West now? This has been a crazy post season with the #1 and #2 seeds not making the conference finals, that is odd in itself. I've been harsh on the Mavs at times but sweeping the champs is pretty darn impressive.

Wishful thinking. Without changes they are an 8 seed. Surely they will make some changes to appease the greatest LA Laker ever in his final days of NBA basketball.

Very interesting comment and it shows how much the NBA is driven by the player and not the team like other pro sports leagues. I was a huge Laker's fan during the Showtime era and still enjoy them but not nearly as much as 20 years ago. Just think you could have been a Charlotte/NO Hornets fan if they wouldn't have traded the rights to Kobe.

From the time I was six years old I was a Dallas Cowboy and Chicago Cubs fan and I have been die hard ever since. Passionate, same way with UK basketball. But NBA I always liked players and the teams they played for. I got into teams but I never had a constant team that I was passionate about like the other sports. Growing up I liked Penny Hardaway and the Magic (Shaq), Zo and the Hornets (Muggsy, Larry Johnson, Glenn Rice), then it was Vince Carter so I liked the Raptors then once Lebron hit I have been a fan of his teams since. The reason I like the Heat right now and the reason I own Miami apparel is because of Lebron James. Obviously I like D Wade and the others two but Bron' is the primary reason I say thats my team. I would have probably said Cleveland was my favorite team if you asked me last year. I also like the Celtics because of Rondo and some of the other guys. I will like the Wizards and want them to do good because of Wall. So for some reason in the NBA I could never just land on a team and stick with it. It is more about the players to me and since your a Kobe fan I can easily see how it could be so great to get caught up in the Lakers. But once he's gone it becomes less about the historic showtime Lakers but more about I don't really like any of these guys on the team.

See my post above. Exactly right. In comparison to the other major sports, outside of soccer players are more influential in the NBA than any other sport at the fan level.

Kupchak needs to take a long hard look at Bynum to see if he's worth the money and hassle. Injury prone/immature is a bad combination.

To think they could have pretty much traded Melo for Bynum straight up. Laker management was not on board.

Well if any team can get players it is the Lakers. They have always had great players so the Lakers would be a good team to ride out. That's why I enjoy seeing them lose is because that is something you don't get to see that much. One team dominating a sport is never good IMO (unless of course it is the teams I pull for ).

I agree I keep getting flack from people about being a Lakers fan right now. I'm like really they won the last 2 years come on. 2 out of the last 3 aint to bad. Should be an interesting off season for them. I'm not sure I will ever get the feeling I have now when they win or lose. I guess I will cheer on the Mavs now Dirk seems like a pretty decent dude. Can the Celtics and Heat both lose this round? :lol:

Dirk is also a huge UK fan, so he's got that going for him too.

Big night in Memphis. Also heard Bosh's post-game comments in where he admitted his nerves got the best of him and the game was pretty much too big for him. Good thing he joined forces with Batman and Robin. Guess that makes him Catwoman? But as Rick Bucher said on Mike and Mike, that news really came to no person's surprise on the Heat bench.
