April 19, 201115 yr I believe that a majority of media outlets have a double standard in many instances when liberals have done comparable things that conservatives have. They'll shrug off something from a liberal that a conservative would be crucified for. However, I don't think it applies here. I don't think the counter-examples are an apples to apples comparison. (Post #15)
April 19, 201115 yr This just furthers my point. Your attempts to rationalize and justify the left doing this kinda stuff is nearly as pathetic as the people who actually come up with this garbage.Where did I "rationalize and justify the left doing" anything? If you're making an accusation, you better be able to back it up.
April 19, 201115 yr Where did I "rationalize and justify the left doing" anything? If you're making an accusation, you better be able to back it up. I quoted that post for a reason. You pretty much said in the post I quoted that what the left has done regarding Bush isn't nearly as bad as this, which is 100% not true. Neither is worse than the other, they're both deplorable.
April 19, 201115 yr It's pretty simple logic. This kind of garbage is deplorable regardless of who does it. Who the person is, is irrelevant. No one said that kind of activity on either side isn't deplorable, and it's ridiculous for you to infer that I feel otherwise.
April 19, 201115 yr No one said that kind of activity on either side isn't deplorable, and it's ridiculous for you to infer that I feel otherwise. You're trying to say that one is worse than the other, which just simply isn't true. It's pathetic to try and say it is.

And yes, it's true that there is a racial component to the chimpanzee picture of Obama that doesn't exist with Bush. If you don't acknowledge that ... well, that's your stubbornness and bias coming through.
April 19, 201115 yr You're trying to say that one is worse than the other, which just simply isn't true. It's pathetic to try and say it is. She simply has to understand that there were racial connotations using the monkey that were not there with Bush. She has to find a different symbol to illustrate her opinion of Obama's abilities.
April 19, 201115 yr No, that was your interpretation of it ... nothing more, nothing less. And yes, it's true that there is a racial component to the chimpanzee picture of Obama that doesn't exist with Bush. If you don't acknowledge that ... well, that's your stubbornness and bias coming through. That doesn't make it one any worse than the other. Seriously, why is that so hard to understand? They are equally as insulting. I see them both as them saying Obama and Bush are "lesser than people". So Obama being depicted as less than a person is more offensive than Bush being depicted as less than a person simply because Obama is black?

I think both are wrong UK but you have to admit you see the difference in the two analogies based on usage History alone.
April 19, 201115 yr I think both are wrong UK but you have to admit you see the difference in the two analogies based on usage History alone. Honestly, race didn't even cross my mind until someone specifically mentioned it. Generational differences I guess. :idunno:
April 19, 201115 yr Let me ask this, why is it not as bad to portray Bush as a monkey as it is Obama? If you take offense to one you should take equal offense to both.
April 19, 201115 yr It depends if you are on the right or left... If you're on the left it's political humor.. If you are on the right then you are a racist bigot... You couldn't have said it better.
April 19, 201115 yr You couldn't have said it better.Oh yes, he could have ... that's quite a generalization.
