March 28, 201115 yr Mobaar pointed out in another thread (I've updated it): This year? 6-0 UConn - L on 11/24, UNC - L on 12/4, W on 3/27 UGA - L on 1/8, W on 1/29 Bama - L on 1/18, W on 3/12 Ole Miss - L on 2/1, W on 3/11 Florida - L on 2/5, W on 2/26 and 3/13 Vandy - L on 2/12, W on 3/1 Ark - L on 2/23 So if they win the next two, they'll have avenged 7 of their 8 losses on the year. Hence the nickname: The Avengers
March 28, 201115 yr Avengers doesn't have that certain catchy feel to it. Along the same get even theme, how about the Comeback Cats? They come back to get even and they are back to the Final Four.
March 28, 201115 yr Author The thing I like about Avengers is the "Don't get mad, get even" attitude that it has.
March 28, 201115 yr The name I have heard tossed around by the media and on twitter is The Payback Cats. I think that is the one with legs.
March 28, 201115 yr Author The name I have hear tossed around by the media and on twitter is The Payback Cats. I think the is the one with legs. Payback is good. Payback is a Behar.
March 28, 201115 yr Author Upon reflection, I realize that Avengers has, perhaps, too much of a "British" feel to it. (on the other hand, we ARE the UK Wildcats....)
March 28, 201115 yr The name I have heard tossed around by the media and on twitter is The Payback Cats. I think that is the one with legs. I hadn't heard that one. But I did think of it. However, I don't like any nickname with "pay" in the title. Too easily twisted into something else by the Haters. That is why I went with Comeback instead of Payback. I do like Payback better than Comeback but I think having "pay" in the nickname is not good.
March 28, 201115 yr I like The Undeniables. I saw somewhere that this name came from Enes Kanter. Not sure how true that is, but a great name nonetheless.
March 28, 201115 yr I thought the National Media had labeled the '98 National Champions as the "Comeback Cats" because of their three consecutive victories after significant deficits?
March 28, 201115 yr I thought the National Media had labeled the '98 National Champions as the "Comeback Cats" because of their three consecutive victories after significant deficits? They did!
March 28, 201115 yr I like The Undeniables. I saw somewhere that this name came from Enes Kanter. Not sure how true that is, but a great name nonetheless. :thumb: If they win it all, I could see that.
March 28, 201115 yr I thought the National Media had labeled the '98 National Champions as the "Comeback Cats" because of their three consecutive victories after significant deficits? I forgot that. So Comeback can't be used. I don't think Payback should be used. I like Undeniables better than Avengers.
