March 12, 201115 yr I follow a very wide range of people. From friends to every NBA player with an account to a variety of NFL players to most ESPN personalities to many up and coming bloggers to the Duke medical staff and people like the Kardashians as well. I have exchanged tweets with Reggie Bush, Daniel Orton, Michael Smith, Dick Vitale(about Randy Moss), Big Tigger(from Rap City), Common and Jermichael Finley's wife. I was following Ron Artest's brother, Daniel, and he was one of my favorite follows. When the Ron Artest trade rumors surfaced I asked if Ron wanted to be traded and he blocked me. Guess he took offense to my question. We had a good conversation about LeBron one night. My all time favorite interaction was when an overzealous Duke fan sent Darius Miller a tweet talking junk and I backed him up then Darius retweeted it and I was attacked by Big Blue Nation for a good 24 hours. Darius and I ended up exchanging playful tweets trash talking one another and eventually me wishing him well and letting him know I root for all Ky boys regardless of where they play. I was impressed with his level headedness and he seems like a great kid. Funny time all around. I even began following some of the BBN fans and they began following me. I enjoy twitter. A lot.

I don't think the majority of people use it in the manner you described. It's not texting. View it as a customized internet. I get links sent to me from people I'm interested in following. Your original concerns are 100% valid with youngsters when it comes to texting.

Thats all and is jmo.And you are right. Other than it's usefulness to celebrities in keeping their fans happy, and possibly news organizations using it to issue bulletins, I see little need for it. Who wants to read about somebody eating at White Castle?
