James Pouncy's 15 yr old team made it to the final 4 of the 16s in Indy. I think they only had 6 and then had to forfeit their last game due to a player or two having to leave.

Nice showing for the youngsters.

Saw some of the action at Landmark today. KY Elite 16s lost to a team from Ohio. Good game for most of the game.

Any word on the big boy that went down hard and left in an ambulance?

Dalton Cornette is the big man that went down. He took a charge (that was not called) and fell. Rebounder then fell on his neck and back. Scary situation. Information I received is he has a sore neck but that is it. Thank goodness.

In general, I was very disappointed in the officiating at the Royals AAU tourney this weekend. Refs were really letting them play. In the games I saw, one young man left in an ambulance and another lost two teeth from an elbow. No fouls called in either situation.

I understand letting them play but the safety of the athletes should be considered. You can not let games get out of hand.

Great run by KY Select, they made it all the way to the Championship game, but like you said Clyde, had to forfeit due to losing some players. They beat some really nice teams.

Bombers 16u lost in the first round of bracket play to a tough Louisville's Finest team by only 1 point. The refs were not making consistant calls at all. At times they would not call anything and then switch gears and call touch touch fouls. Good luck to the Bombers in their next tournament. They really give it their all!

AAU Super Regional hosted by Cincy Royals is this weekend at Landmark Sports Complex and Reading schools.

Kentucky teams I saw listed are:

13U KY Retros

14U KY Retros

16U KY Elite & Louisville's Finest

There are also many Shining Stars teams playing which I know have some KY boys on them.

14U All Ohio Purple has some KY boys. Lost to Club Ohio on Sunday at Super Regionals.

NKY Heat 17u is playing in the King of the South tournament in Nashville this weekend. They lost the first game to a good Charlotte Court team by about 10 points. They rebounded with an impressive 20 point win over Music City Ballers. They play Tennessee Edge tonight at 9:30.

NKY Heat won the nightcap over Tennessee Edge by double digits. Ja'Keith Pitts had to be close to a triple double with 12 points and several steals and assists in this game. Tyler Bray had a monster dunk leaving a step in front of the free throw line dunking it in traffic! He also had a nasty oop from Pitts on the baseline. They won their 4th game by double digits over Southern Illinois Advance. Jaleel Gray put on an absolute clinic with 35 points in that game. Their 5th game was interesting to say the least. It was a close game thoughout against a tough Hooplanet team from Atlanta. NKY Heat was up 2 at halftime and it was a 3 point game with 6 minutes left in the game, with the winner advancing to the Final Four. Tyler Bray, who had been the main player playing above the rim with the big boys from Atlanta, took a charge and hurt his back. He had to be escorted by ambulance to the nearest hospital. You could tell the team was really worried about him. They were all huddled around him as he was taken out on a stretcher. Nobody seemed to want to finish the game. After that happened, Gray and Knox both went out with injuries and JR Doss fouled out. They finished the game with 5 players and lost by 7. The entire team went to the hospital to be with their teammate after the game. The good news is that Tyler is going to be OK. He will need to rest for a few weeks and has to do some physical therapy but hopefully will be back in action soon.

NKY Heat played great this weekend, but the best part of the weekend were the many compliments they received by the other coaches, officials, and fans. One official said it was refreshing to see such a good group of kids playing hard and not resorting to dirty play and trash talking. Another official complimented them on their sportsmanship and teamwork. An opposing fan came up to the team after they beat his son's team and said how exciting they were to watch and how they were the most fun team to watch in a long time. So, NKY was represent well in the Music City this weekend!

I didn't get to see them play, but I think Beckham was playing with Hoopdreams this weekend in Nashville. I could be wrong, but someone told me he played for them. KY had a few teams in this tournament with Hoopdreams, Charlotte Court, Next Level, and NKY Heat. Hoopdreams and Next Level played in the Championship game with Next Level winning the King of the South tourney.

Thanks. I knew he had played with Hoop Dreams but I saw Tamron Manning's name on a different roster so I was wondering if Hoop Dreams was still around. Does anyone have a roster for Hoop Dreams?

Looking at some of these rosters is it safe to assume most of these teams don't get full practices in based on the geography for some of these kids? How much do most teams practice per week and how often do they get a full practice in?

I know the Hoya Elite team practices twice a week in Louisville. If you look at the roster I posted you have, Zach Davis, Knott County Central, Trevor Tiller, Paintsville, and Adam Fatkin, Winchester that travel the farest.
