At least one of them played summer ball with WV before they were even eliigble to play for them. Luebbe has been a strong presence in the building of this team and program. He has been able to sell the program and start a chain reaction of transfers. Give credit where credit is do.

 

The one you are referring to WATCHED the "team summer ball" and did not dress or participate. The initial comment should have clarified AAU or select ball....which Luebbe was not a factor in, this team was made up, recruited by, and coached by two of the team members parents, and still is.

If anything or wrong doing was going on in Walton don't you think the KHSAA would already be involved?

Walton has a history of out of district players.... both girls and boys. It's no secret. If a player (and parents) are looking for a small school with high academics and an opportunity to play in the All A Classic as well as region.... Walton offers that environment. Nothing wrong with wanting something different.

I think it's pretty obvious in this thread who is being defensive. There are several of you that spend more time worrying and crying about what Walton is doing instead of focusing on your own team. I'm sure everyone is tired of hearing the bellyaching and crying.

Sad to see the outstanding careers of West and Wilhoit end. They were a intregal part to the Lady Demons for many years and be greatly missed. Also great job to fellow senior Haley Rothwell. They are great young ladies and will successful in all they do.

It's somewhat expected that things such this occur if a private school is involved, as it is their business to put kids in their seats and fill their classrooms. However, a public school is an entirely different thing. Farmer Jones doesn't get to go over into Farmer Smith's field and harvest is soybeans, does he? Similarly, a public school should not be doing the same thing with student-athletes form neighboring schools. It seems that this is consistently happening up in the northern portion of the 8th region, based on the frequent comments, observations and admissions by people posting on this web site. When folks complain about parochial schools recruiting, and I am certainly not defending them in any way, at least their very survival depends upon getting kids in their doors. But the alleged incidents referred to regarding the schools mentioned, regardless of KHSAA rulings, sully the schools' athletic programs and tarnish their accomplishments. This is shameful, plain and simple! And to the KHSAA: What about the old smoke and fire truism?

Clyde, I couldn't agree with you more. And to be totally honest, I hope that I am way off base. The point that I am trying to make is that anywhere, any school that is pushing the limit of the intent of the KHSAA guidelines is just not being honest - and I don't have a pie-in-the-sky naive attitude about this. It just comes down to good, clean competition, which is what we should hope for in high school athletics. Again, I agree with you fully - and I hope that I am way off base.

I believe that if a kid wants to switch schools ,even if it's for sports, and the school district allows them to and if the KHSAA is fine with it then I'm fine with it. I do NOT believe that child MUST go to the school in whose district they reside.
