Good for O' Hara and Pouncy but just curious why the 9th Region has 2? I was always under the impression each region had 1 official represent?

Is anyone actually happy to see Billman on there?

I was told yesterday after this was posted that Joe Billman finished first in both boys and girls' 16th region coaches rankings. Maybe the coaches are seeing something BGP nation is not.

Has paid his dues and deserves a chance at the big show, but is average IMO. One of the top 5 in the 15th region (could be the weakest region in the state for officals) and somewhat consistent, but gets caught up on touch fouls out on the floor while letting you mug under the rim I think.

Coldiron is one of the best to ever call the game! He always allows the game to be about the players and not himself nor the coaches! Congrats

Last time I saw Mr. Billman officiate a game was a 7th grade game a couple of months ago. So little control that the game was actually stopped in overtime and called. The 8th grade game that was supposed to follow was cancelled and everybody went home.

 

I'll just stop at saying that I feel there are many better referees in the 16th. Actually I think just about any of them are. JMO.

I think he usually is. Maybe the region coaches want the rest of the state to have to experience the "best" that the 16th has to offer?

I am guessing that if these guys are doing the Sweet 16 then they will be doing the finals of the region they are working. Therefore Pouncy and O'Mara will be on the finals of the 10th region boys tournament. It will be interesting to see who the 3rd is on that game.

This is probably correct but I believe he is the assigning secretary for the 16th Region so who thinks the coaches are not going to rub him the wrong way. Nearly everytime Mason goes to the 16th we seem to have Billman and if he is the best, the tenth Region tourney next year will be a disaster. Anyone who watched the finals of the AIT last year will know what I mean.

I'll be honest with you if you're from out of region and you go to a 16th region team, I don't think you're going to like the calls and I'm not usually one that is going to have too much of a gripe about officials. I've seen it and experienced it when I played and to be honest didn't feel like that when our team went out of region to play a team. Maybe it's just a coincidence or it just seemed that way, but I do think some of the 16th region refs definitely take care of their own. JMO
