NKY JV Tournament

Featured Replies

Holy Cross led the entire game except for the last 18 seconds. The scored on a nice inbound play with 1.8 seconds left. HC plays four Jrs and a soph, Thompson, Fortner, Schuler and Waker are the Jrs and Tiberi is the Soph. Beal is a Frosh and he sees a lot of time and Gabbard is the 7th off the bench. Tiberi and Fortner are the leading scorers, Tiberi had 14 against Conner and HCC the last 2 days. HC is not big, but are very athletic. Press like the Varsity. Thompson spells Avery about 5 minutes agame at the Varsity level. HC started the year 0-6since that time they are 7-2.

Is it a 9th region tourney or more like an invitational similar to the frosh where a few outsiders (Scott-Simon) make the cut to the event too?

Wish I had heard about this. Always fun to see what the future holds for NKY hoops!

I know that SK was in this, they beat Holmes and lost to Conner. So I assume that schools such as Scott played in it as well.

Thanks for the info folks!

I'm sure this or any JV tourney plays second fiddle to a lot of varsity program fighting for top seeds in the district or NKAC standings.

Hats off to the Holy Cross JV team for even making it to tonight's JV regional Final. Coach Allen has done a great job with this group as the year has gone on. Like Minnesota25 mentioned they started out the season 0-6 but have been playing great the last 3 weeks. Good luck to the Indians tonight in their rematch against Conner. Hopefully we'll see another great game like we did Saturday night in Latonia when HC won in overtime.

BTW - Any details on the HC/NCC semi-final game - Minnesota25 recapped the final minute but any other stats, etc? - I thought NCC was supposed to be such an overwhelming favorite not only in this game but to win the JV tourney ?

HC got up big early. I think they were up by 10 in the first half. NCC, as expected, came back. I think NC took the lead with less than 30 seconds left. HC hit a layup with less than 2 seconds to win it.

NCC couldn't handle the HC press in the first half and HC got up pretty big. NCC came back and took their first lead with 18 seconds to go, but Walker got a nice pass from Schuler and made a layup with 2 seconds to go and HC got the W. Tiberi, Fortner, and Gabbard lead the scoring for HC.

Why did you think that? After watching the game, the better team won the game imo.

It was a great game, fun to watch, both teams did well HC by one.

Thanks for all the details guys - Should be a good final tonight in Park Hills.

Congratulations to the 9th Region JV Champion, Conner Cougars. They win a thriller in Park Hills 42-41.

Conner shoots 56% from the field and goes 4/5 from beyond the arc. Big night from Huff and Koors shooting the basketball. Conner moves to 20-4 with two left against Holmes and NCC. Nice season for the young Cougars.
