Sorry I was just used to seeing CCH win State Championships and Regional Championships in the appropriate sports.

I was also very surprised to hear the CCH faithful arguing over why the basketball team was only playing 6 seniors; I remember when Listerman would run out 10 guys and press and run the entire game...seems like a dramatic change

CCH is a premier athletic school. They are the smallest all boys catholic school in the state of KY. They may not win state championships every year, but if you look at each of there varisty sports they are in position to compete with the states best programs. I know that football and basketball are king but you can't dismiss the cross country and track teams competing for a state championship nearly every year. Swimming and golf are two of the states best programs and have graduated students that each year receive scholarships to DI programs. I know this may be off track but nothing is wrong with CovCath as a whole. The football program will be very competitive again with Wirth as the head coach. They may not beat HHS every year but as they showed this year the games will be far more competitive. The basketball program does need some development, but is certainly considered, year after year, as a quality team that can win the region. They have been overshadowed by Holmes the past couple of years when they were clearly the 2nd best team in the region behind one of the best teams in the state.
He speaketh the truth !!
bump I couldnt resist

That's it. I need a tissue.

You're being misled. He's not "only playing 6 seniors." Sealteam is of the opinion that he should be getting more minutes for others. "Others" are playing. I'd guess 8 to 9 get PT.

If you want to overlook the other 6 sports they compete in where they are the premier program in most of them fine.

If you want to look at the 3 "major" sports:

Basketball- 9th Region Champs 06', 9th Region Runner-Up 07', 9th Region Runner-Up 08', one bad year in 09', lost in Reg Semi's to Regional Champ Newport 2010, and 2011 one of the teams that easily could win it.

Sorry, they are the 2nd best program in NKY behind Holmes over the last 5 years.

Football- since the 2006 title, no one disagrees they aren't consistently what they used to be year after year. But they made major strides this year and probably were the 3rd best team in 5A by the end of the year. They are heading back to where they should be consistently.

Baseball- 21 wins in 06', 9th Region Runner-Up in 07' with 27 wins, 9th Region Runner-Up in 08' win 27 wins, 9th Region Runner-Up in 09' with 33 wins, 25 wins in 10'.

They were runner-up 3 straight years. So you are basing your statements off these championship games? Anything can happen in a 1 game format. They are still the predominant program in NKY.

Not to nit-pik, but I'm assuming you mean "9th region teams" here, not NKY?? If so, you may get an argument from some 8th & 10th region NKY teams, especially in the ----'04'05, -'05-'06, '06-'07 timeframe!!

I know up until recently, when I think of NKY, I usually am speaking of Boone, Kenton, and Campbell Counties. After further review, I now realize I have to include Mason County as NKY. I was not a part of this thread until now, so I am not sure what you are referring to in your statement.

Mason, Pendleton, etc. being part of NKY will always be another argument, but certainly would fit this timeframe? I was thinking more of the Scott, Brossart, and maybe SK teams of that era? Brossart for one finished #1 in '05 and '07 in the Enquirer and Post polls in NKY, but had the "misfortune" of playing in the 10th region with some very good Mason, Pendleton and GRC teams and didn't make it to Rupp. Pretty sure Highlands and NCC had some good team in that timeframe as well--The '07 graduating classes across the area were special in NKY in virtually all sports!!

I've only been part of a NKY basketball program since the 06-07 season. This is good information to know. Thanks.

No problem--Good to have you in the area. Since '07-'08, I'd say CCH has been in that #2 spot.

CCH won region in '06, correct? I'd say they've been #2 since then, if not earlier.

04 and 06

Runners up in 07.

04 and 06

Runners up in 07.

Runners up in 08' as well.

What's wrong with CovCath? I think it is the dress code! They should go back to the Dress Code of the day's gone by. Dress shirts, Ties, Dress Slacks, Black Socks, Dress Shoes and what's this with being off school today! Never in my four years at CovCath, did they ever call off school due to snow and indeed I walked and thumbed to school each day.

Yep that What's wrong with CovCath today, the Dress Code and Snow Day's!
