This is what is WRONG with Madison Southern football. People are already trying to set him up for failure and he hasn't even met his team yet. Let the guy see what he can do, he is only 32 I think so I'm sure he is full of energy and ready to get this show on the road. Give him time first and then come to a conclusion. I know I have written some negative things on here because Southern has not had their act together the last three years. Let clean the clate and see what happens.

He also coached on two state champ teams in Indiana. I think his role was o-line and assistant OC on those teams.

I don't know the guy or anything about his coaching ability. He may be able to coach circles around most area coaches. But I just find it funny that high school hiring comittees are so impressed by all this college GA and college assistant stuff. Sometimes those types are the biggest failures in high school football. Completely different world.

 

A lot of times that is very true. Very few of those types of hires become successful. HS is a total different animal than college.

 

Lets just hope for the fans, parents and players of MS that this 1 works out. Good Luck to him.

He has a woman in KY, that's why he came to KY. Good guy and a very knowledgeable coach. I hope he gets some good people around him considering he doesn't know many people in the state.

Good attitude!....keep it up and get the kids involved with this attitude, especially if the chips are down...give this coach a chance...I wish you all the best over there at Southern.

 

To the questions about Southern playing Rockcastle.....the answer is no. They will not play this year and likely not next year as most of contracts are two year home and away contracts.

Word from kids is that he is going to be an assistant at Madison Central.

I believe he is from IN. Played ball at Ohio U, under Jim Grobe. Coached HS at Warren Cent (I believe that is right) in Indianapolis. GA at Ohio, Auburn, among a few others I think. Also coached at Idaho State as the OL coach. This is all what I have been told. More to come on Friday, I think.

Good point. I believe people get way to caught up with college coaching experience, etc. Most coaches at the HS level and above have the same amount of knowledge it is about being able to teach that knowledge to HS kids and motivating them to execute. I hope that people evaluate this coach on his ability to prepare these young men for life not just w' and l's. I hope he is a good role model and leader.

A lot of times coaches in HS are just as qualified...but in college it's who you know and timing...like most places. Some college coaches get sick of the constant turnover, constant moving (sometimes every year), the long hours and very little pay. So HS does look appealing when it comes to stability...well more stable then college.
