A lot of times coaches in HS are just as qualified...but in college it's who you know and timing...like most places. Some college coaches get sick of the constant turnover, constant moving (sometimes every year), the long hours and very little pay. So HS does look appealing when it comes to stability...well more stable then college.

I agree the knowledge base for HS and College coaches are virtually the same....college coaches get more time to teach and they get to recruit their kids so they can keep the same schemes without changing every year. They recruit the type of kids to fit their schemes, HS coaches have to change schemes every year or so to cater to the talent level of the HS kids. I think in Madison Southern's case this a great hire for them though. Sounds like he has good background.

Word from kids is that he is going to be an assistant at Madison Central.

Not true. Only one member of the previous staff has even been talked to about staying, from what Im told.

really, wonder why he is coming to the HS ranks....sounds like a good selection if all is correct.

Got tired of the college coaching circus, and has family in Lexington he wanted to get close to.

Sounds like a good move on his part, and good hire for MS. I am confident he will right the ship up there. No knock on Coach Brumley, sometimes it comes down to chemistry, not every shoe fits. Coach Clark sounds like a good fit. I am sure Coach B will find a good fit for him somewhere, he is a good coach in is own right.

I heard former standout UK receiver Craig Yeast put in for the job too. Was he a close second?

From what I know of the situation, NO.

Masison Southern in a New Dist. and New classification. Will not play Rock or McCreary Central. McCreary Central had some great games the past 4 years.

Just read the bio on Richmond Register. Graduate from Ohio University in 2004. GA there till 2005. Auburn in 2006. Sweden in 2007. 2007 Syracuse. 2008-2009 Warren Central. 2010 Idaho State. That is the best I can summarize it from the article. That is a lot of moving around. Hopefully he will settle down and lead Southern for a while.

Did he GA at Idaho State?

What is he going to run on offense and defense?

OL coach at Idaho state. I read were he is suing them for around $4,000. He was promised to be paid more than he was there. Can you believe the OL coach at Idaho St. only makes 23,000. He will be getting a major pay raise going here.

Most 1-AA schools don't pay their coaches well at all...unless you are the head coach.

Not really, because he will not have a teaching position.

Well that's no good. Is he going to be a instructional assistant or something or just football? That would be tough to pay the bills if it's just football.
