Henry Clay 55 George Rogers Clark 54

Coach Humphrey is a class act. Having talked to him a time or two, his comment after the game doesn't surprise me.

If GRC takes care of business throughout the game, it doesn't come to the last second drama.

Tough loss for the Cards, but it is one that will make them better in the long run. Any coach will agree that it's much easier to teach and learn after a loss, than a win.

Congrats to HC on the win. The 11th is extremely tough. GRC, considered to be top 3 in the state, struggled to beat Bryan Station, Tates Creek, and then lose to Henry Clay.

On a neutral floor and with three referees, GRC doesn't struggle to beat either of these teams!

Give credit where credit is due. Those teams obviously had a great game plan to take away the Cards strengths.

No need to make excuses. It's a long season for Coach H and his bunch...they're only going to improve as the season goes on. It's tough to stay sharp every night.

Were there only 2 refs?

I watched the clip. That last foul call was horrible. I thought they had a quick whistle on the inbounds play to Zollo as well. I didn't see the whole game so maybe the refs were calling it that close all night but IMO there is no way a ref should ever blow the whistle on that last play.

A few points worth what you paid for them:

Hats off to HC who obviously played a very good game.

GRC has multiple D1 players, and they should be able to dominate.

Don't expect an evenly refereed game in Lex. if you are from out of Lex. Same goes for anywhere else in KY.

This was the ONLY game in this tournament that utilized three officials. I am sure th powers at be in Lexington will have a backlash on that. I heard Several coaches and administrators at the first round Tates Creek/West Jessamine game say they were not told it would be 2 man crews.

They were VERY disappointed that with this type of tournament, there were not 3 officials on EVERY Game.

I was there and thought the refs didn't have very good game throughout. They missed a lot of 5 second calls, carries and charge calls. The last foul was the worst. But that being said GRC had their chances to win. HC is a very nice team that should make things interesting in the 11th. Nothing embracing losing to them under normal circumstances.

Again, if GRC coach takes his players off the lane there is no chance for a foul, bad choice.

I agree with milfordflash, Humphries should have taken his kids off the line especially with a 1 point lead. I have watch this fellow a few times coach and in big game situations and I scratch my head at some of the stuff that goes on and decisions made. GRC will get better from this loss but seems to be struggling putting teams that they should be putting away, to sleep.

I can't imagine a tournament with only 2 officials for most of the games. Is the attendance that bad?

No it wasn't at the game I was at. GRC travles VERY well.

By watching the game on ihigh, there were many gaps in the crowd. What was the attendance like as it could be with the camera angles not a true revealing.

Clyde it is about the almighty dollar...This tournament was very well attended and they charged 8.00 to get in each gym.

Having two or three officials calling a high school game makes no difference, in my opinion.

The official was in good position to make the call, it just appears he made a call that should have not been made.

Crowds in games in Lexington have been very disappointing in recent years for both football and basketball.

I see no reason for the KHSAA to not go back to two officials per contest during our current economic time.
