December 31, 201015 yr Waiters/Waitresses always get atleast 15% of cost from me and sometimes more depending on how they perform. I usually tip my massage therapists a few extra bucks whenever I go. Other than that I don't really have anybody to tip.

In Indy this week we stayed at a really, really nice hotel (I have no idea how we got it), how much should we have tipped there? We gave the guy all of the ones we had which was about $10-$11, I think.

From the guys here, I can tell you $2-$3/day is typcial. But, more is always appreciated, at my hotel, those guys spend long hours out there in the cold and rain, snow, heat, etc, at server's wages.

January 1, 201115 yr Never understood tipping people that set their own prices to begin with. Ex. barber, stylists, etc. I tip waiters, waitresses, bartenders, and valets. But I wish they were paid correctly where we did not have to tip.

I know of a local place that automatically charges me 18% and I recently had one of the the worst servers that I have ever had during a meal there. I went ahead and paid for it but the fact remains that I don't believe she deserved a dime of that tip.

Poor guys seemed to be bored because they tried to talk our legs off, and it was really cold up in Indy.

Being a former member of the service industry, I was glad I wasn't paid the same as everyone else. As I often got tipped higher percentages than my co-workers. I owned my tips. Meaning that I made sure to take very good care of those I was serving. And they took care of me. If I was paid a standard wage, some of the incentive may have been lost. Don't forget, if they were paid a higher wage, the cost of goods would skyrocket as well.

They can automatically put it on, but if you don't want it, they have to take it off.

I really didn't want to tip them the 18% then but I didn't want to cause a scene so I just decided to do it anyways but knowing now I don't have to do that, I might have to do this in the future.

Lowest I would ever tip is 10% and that is if they are terrible. I want them to get some type of tip to let them know that I did remember. Your right some may not do a good of a job if they had a standard wage.
