Dixie Heights 75 Beechwood 50

Beechwood has good size and the athletic ability to play with almost anybody. They are however, very young. Of their top 6 or 7 players they have 1 SR, 1 JR and 4 SO. The game got away from the a little bit in the second period. They are more than capable of putting a whole game together like they played in that first period. Are they going to represent the region down state? Probably not. But Beechwood basketball has come along way from where they were twenty years ago.

Boys, I will say it now. When February roles around Beechwood is going to be a team that none of the "BIG BOYS" are going to want to play. Lets see this time last year Maus, Mckenzie and Erdman were playing freshman ball. Nussbaum was playing all three levels and Cruse was hurt most last season. Give these players a full varsity season and lets see what happens. Yes Nussbaum and Maus were playing up full time late last year, but now this is their team. All you experts on here that think they aren't ready you are right, but like a good wine or a well aged bourbon things get a lot better with time and seasoning. Lets talk again come district time, or for that matter the All A.

If I'm BW my goal is to make a run in the All A. They do not have the horses to make a run in the 35th or the 9th. One legit scorer. One solid scorer . Two very good athletes who aren't scorers and one big raw lanky kid. Not enough IMO. Their future is good but it's not this year.

I agree.

Holmes and Covcath are too good this year for Beechwood to make a run in the district.

I agree with you to a point. On a given night Beechwood will be able to play with most teams, and could win one here and there, there is no team(s) that stick out too much, same ole thing in the 9th. I say outside of Holmes (one because of coaching), then MAYBE Boone who is still beatable, a bunch of teams could end up in the final.

Couldnt have said it better myself. The Tigers have the potential to win the All A that is for sure.

IMO Zeke showed no class in that game with yelling the "f" word after receiving the 4th foul. If the kid wants to be a D1 player he can't act like that!

I tihnk you are on target Clyde. It will be fun to see how much this young group improves as the year goes on. I think they will be a dangerous team by the end of the year. To answer your question about Vocke, he is not playing basketball and is focusing on track (yes, Beechwood is going to have a boys track team this year).

BW can have a successful small-school track team and I don't think it will take very long.

Does anyone know what Shumate got T'd up for in this one? He was going beserko on the sideline!

He felt his guy got fouled on a shot at the basket but didn't get the call. He came out on the floor yelling and got T'd.

Hulk, I agree with you and I'm not trying to defend any player's colorful language, but if you think this doesn't happen in D1 athletics, you haven't watched much college basketball or football. It's just a bad habit of today's society and a lot of us either look the other way or pretend we never heard it.

that zebra has a short leash anyway, he gave almost 30 coaches technical fouls last year. He missed the call and Shumate let him know it. He didn't like being showed up I guess.

I will go out on a limb and say that it will take exactly 158 days.

Zero chance he gave 30 Ts last year.

If you had QS in your "who will respond first to this post" pool you WIN!:D
