I kind of thought this would be a little closer but Walter was right.

Trammel stepped up big tonight along with Hatton's usual, to lead the Colonels.

I don't know the totals but they combined for a boatload.

Pike and Stansberry were in big time foul trouble all night....Pike fouls out in the 3rd.

Cruse and Fangman both had nice games for the Tigers.

Per KyPost.com

DIXIE HEIGHTS 75, BEECHWOOD 50 – Colonels freshman Brandon Hatton scored 10 of his game-high 27 points in the second quarter.

The Tigers led by one after the first quarter, but Hatton helped Dixie Heights build a 15-point lead heading into the locker room.

Hatton also grabbed six rebounds and recorded three steals as the Colonels extended their winning streak to seven.

Dixie Heights senior guard Matt Trammel chipped in with 17 points, three assists and a pair of steals.

Junior forward Corey Cruse and senior guard Tyler Fangman poured in 20 points each in the losing effort for Beechwood.

DIXIE HEIGHTS (7-0): Hassel 3 3 9, Trammel 7 2 17, Harris 1 0 2, Stansberry 4 0 8, Evans 1 0 2, Wigger 0 2 2, Pike 2 1 5, Moo Young 0 1 1, Cohorn 0 2 2, Hatton 8 9 27. Totals 26 20 75.

3-pointers: DH—Hatton 2, Trammel. B—Fangman 3. JV: Dixie Heights won.

Good game for one quarter.

BW is OK but has no depth. PG is a really good and tough athlete but not strong offensively. Fangman has a nice offensive game. Cruse is good when he's slashing to the basket. McKenzie is raw but did block Zeke 4 or 5 times tonight.

What happened to Vocke? Not playing?

Tough night for Zeke. Didn't get on the floor very much. Picked up his 4th foul on a silly foul where he accidentally tripped a player on the perimeter and then drew a T as he was walking off the floor. Live and learn.

I'm not sure if there's a smoother player in NKY than Hatton. Doesn't force anything. Uses his body well - stays under control. He, Hassell, and Trammell form a dominant guard trio.

I didn't realize Hatton had that many...that's one heck of a game.

They even tried some type of zone and chaser on him at one point.

I alluded to it in the Highlands game thread...Trammel is very capable of putting up points.

Good to see him have a big night also.

It is great to see Trammel getting back to his true form after his injury! Dixie's guard play has the ability to step up when the big men are in trouble. Dixie is now 7-0...the target is on their backs!

I, too, was surprised he had 27. At one point Erdman(I think) was guarding him and didn't get 6 inches away and didn't even turn his head to see where the ball was.

Trammel did a great job going baseline tonight.

Is anyone else starting to get concerned with Zeke Pike's attitude on the court? It seems to be something every game. I don't know the kid personally, but from everything I've been told, he seems like a great kid off of the hardwood and gridiron, and there's no denying he is an incredible talent in both sports. But he's beginning to get quite a reputation as a hothead.

Pike is an awesome player, however he needs to keep his head if Dixie is going to make a valid run at regionals. Can't let emotions get the best of you!!

I see a trend forming, these type of posts are in every Dixie thread.

I by no means want to bash a high school kid. He's incredibly talented. However, his emotional maturity could very well be the downfall in the Red C's quest to reaching Rupp.

Someone also claimed Trammell wasnt a scorer and his best attribute is setting up other players. Although this may be true, I knew he was capable of scoring. This also makes Al Dean , Highland PG, look that much better as a defender holding him to 2 pts in that game.

Time to grab the popcorn, sit back and watch this thread.............

I don't think there's any question Pike was frustrated all night. He certainly needs to stay focused and zip the mouth in that situation.

I thought Pike and Stansberry were the recipients of some borderline calls.....but that's all part of the game and jmo.

Muntis came off the bench and did a nice job of pulling some boards.

Hassel is another one to keep an eye on.... he's capable of lighting it up when the opportunity arises.

Kudos to Hatton on another big game....the kid never ceases to amaze.
