The job was just posted on the KHSAA website yesterday and was posted no where until then. I thought the rule was a job must be posted for at least 30 days to hire someone from an outside position and the position was just posted yesterday. Unless they want to hire someone from with in the building and then why would you post the job at all then? Am I missing something?

Only if it's a certified position...Head Football Coach isn't a certified position. They don't have to annouce it at all if they wanted to.

I got a call about 10 minutes ago that the job would be filled today from someone who is out-of-state. I'm not sure how any of this is going down. This is kind of comical.

Well Trenchmaster I agree with you on about everything. The Pee Wee league is a disaster, money has come up missing, coaches won't run what Madison Southern or Berea for that matter run, and it will take work for that to be corrected. IMO there are good coaches left at Southern that I hope become assistants down there. Doug Carter (has been the head coach but has a boy down there), Dustin Busler, Derek Tipton, and Coach Colbert all are young guys that could really help the program out. The main thing I think is that the community needs to support this team. The city of Berea does and will always support Berea Community first I feel, but the county in general needs to get behind Southern to help make this what I feel could be a very good winning program.

I agree if I were the new man I would conduct community town hall meetings, speak to the local media and spend time building a strong developemental league. You got to build excitement about the program where boys who don't play feel like they are missing out on being part something special. Their should be pride when they see young men walking around wearing that game day jersey around town. Good Luck to you all!

Who got the MS job?

Seems like what everyone heard is just a rumor for right now. At the booster meeting last night no new coach was announced and nothing was said about who it possibly could be.

My sources tell me ShaDon Brown from Rowan Co will be the next head coach, just what I heard. I also heard they tried to get Hines from Pulaski, but he wouldnt go.

Could be Brown. I hadn't heard the name but this morning I was told that the coach is from out of town and the hold up is waiting on a call from the board of education about a teaching job. Because, at the present time, there are no teaching openings.

Madison Southern needs an established coach who has been around the block a few times. Whoever the coach is probably will not get to bring in many if any assitants and needs to be able to hit the ground running, therefore the coach needs to be someone this whole community and town respects from the get go so that their gameplan can fully be implemented. As far as teaching jobs being open I have no clue about any of that, I guess NWO could tell you about that since he seems to know everything going on in this case.

Ease up a little, Doc. I'm just as interested in the new coach as everyone else is. Just because I'm not affilated with Madison Southern doesn't mean I can't find out any info.

I don't see Brown coming to Southern as he has a good thing going on up in Rowan County with what seemed like plenty of support and a pretty good setup with several key players coming back this next season....I think that Wing (QB) is just a junior this year? If he does come to Berea, it will be suprising to me. JMO

This job pays more than Rowan Co. and that is a reason you will get lots of interest from a lot of different people.

 

Who takes the job, have their hands full. Not only does a coach need to have a plan, great staff and patience.

I've heard they are just trying to find a teaching position for John Poynter at Bourbon County. When they find him a teaching position, the job is his.
