2010 Finals Attendance

Featured Replies

While PJCS is much more convenient for me, I hope they never play it there again. WKU is a great location for it, and the stadium is the perfect size for the size of crowd that would attend the state finals. Great atmosphere tonight.

Anyone know when a decision will be made about the site for future finals?

I, personally, love the finals in BG. I played ball there so it's nostalgic for me. It may hurt attendance, but I don't care. It's a much more intimate setting, and the fans aren't swallowed by the venue. I say keep it in BG.

Did you get to go this year?

Yes, I was there last night.

4A with the biggest crowd this year thanks to the ACS fans showing up in such force.:thumb:

Given the commitment the KHSAA and Bowling Green have for each other for the way BG has did the state golf finals and girls Sweet 16, it may never leave BG.

I don't need to, because I've already seen what I need to see. PJCS is way too big to be hosting the state finals. Smith Stadium is the perfect size.

EKU would be a lot better.

I suggest that it move to David Cecil Memorial in Fort Thomas.

Artificial turf, check.

Stadium would be full, check

Ample parking, check that. Nevermind.

No it wouldn't.
They do not have turf. Every year we have to endure that suggestion, and somehow every year people forget the reason it is not in Lexington.

Was not aware of the playing field until now .Its a shame because Lexington would bring the larger crowds

Missed you at the State game 35. It was a dandy!

2010 drew 47,759 fans, which is over 10,000 more than last year which featured an X/T final in 6A. It's 13,000 more than the last year in Louisville.

2010 is also 1,100 more fans than 2007, which also featured an X/T final in Louisville along with normal heavyweights Beechwood, LCA, LExCath, and Bowling Green.

So much for the arguments

1.) moving the finals to Bowling Green will hurt attendance

2.) the finals won't draw fans if there is no T/X final in 6A.

Game, set, match? Although the naysayers will still point to ACS as the main reason for this year's attendance bump.

They are the same ones that overlook T and X causing the attendance spike in Louisville.

And those naysayers would be wrong because the Louisville site also had the advantage of a large "hometown" crowd every year which skewed the numbers for those years in the same way that the ACS crowd skewed the numbers this year.

Author's note: I just read post #57 and #58 after I posted my comment.:D

Well, not everybody is on the same page of the sheet music, I guess.:D
