We can agree to disagree. Mayfield would hammer NCC much like they did Beechwood. And its okay if those 2 big ole boys are in the backfield all day because thats not where the balls gonna be. Guhy would dink and dunk and when they pressed up tight, beat em to death with the long ball. Noone has even remotely gave Guhy any pressure. I could count his total sacks on 1 hand and those 2 slow big boys wouldnt either..

As to the comments about Guhy beating them to death with the long ball, I believe Mayfield would first have to stop Newcath's ball control offense for this to happen. NOBODY, outside of 6A semi finalist Ryle, has been able to stop Newcath's offense and rushing attack so I like my odds that Mayfield wouldn't be able to either. :thumb:

I like my odds very well too... NCC defense couldnt keep Mayfield under 40 unless they took a knee like they did against Bwood. OCs defense is not Mayfields defense and I'd say Mayfield could play Ryle just as close as NCC did and if we're gonna compare scores, then why not use the 1 common opponent. Oh, I know why, because it doesn't fit what you're trying to hypothetically prove. One common opponent and 2 different outcomes, but, you choose to use Ryle, go figure..

Walter opened a can of worms and now poor ole walter does not like it when others disagree. Hey Walter, its fine to have your opinion and I can respect that but if you don't like what others on here who disagree with you think then you need to take your ball and go play by yourself. I have no doubt NCC is really good, heck they should be they enjoy the benefits of being private but they would not want any part of this Mayfield team. We have way to many weapons and the physical play to go with and did I mention a qb that would blow your socks off. Mayfield is likely the best team in the lower 3 classes and NCC might be 2nd. Historially, Mayfield has also been better. I have a nice memory of playing aginst Frank Jacobs once apon a time myself

Clouded memory already. Beechwood pressured Guhy on several occasions and I believe they had two sacks. Which like you said is difficult because Mayfield's passing game is mostly a shotgun/three step drop type passing attack. I do agree that getting pressure on Guhy is tough because of the style of passing game they have and because of his intelligence. I definitely do not think Mayfield would "hammer" NCC. It really wasn't till the 4th quarter that Mayfield started "hammering" Beechwood and NCC has more size and strength up front than Beechwood. Trust me on this. I have seen both and I am trying to keep this real for you. It would be a very good evenly matched game.

Trust me, I have watched both play. VR you and I both know Mayfield decided to start the hammering in the 4th, had they realized that it would have been that easy they would have done it earlier I suspect. I do agree it would be a heck of a game but Mayfield would likely win it.

You may be right but if Mayfield went to the power football earlier it would have kept the game closer. What did it take them ... 6 or 7 minutes to grind out that drive? They were moving it but it was not coming in big chunks. They ate up a lot of time with that. If you do that early, you limit your own teams offensive possessions and keep your opponent in the game. I think Coach Morris played it just right and went to the power game at the right time - in the 4th quarter when he had a 2 touchdown lead and wanted to burn clock.

Beating Beechwood is big for Mayfield and it's fans. Maybe Beechwood can experience beating us someday.....did I just say that.lol

I root for the WKy teams, too, but, I'm not gonna go full bore into one of those other teams from my area and downgrade another to do it.

Hypothecaly Mayfield may beat Highlands, or Trinity! Realisticaly after watching both of NCC's & Mayfield's games on 12/3/2010, Mayfield would probably lose to O-Cath in a close game, and chances of beating Newcath are zero. Mayfield had a great QB, and No. 5 Jackson will be a load for two more years. Congratulations on your CLASS 1A championship.

Keep in mind that NCC has a lot of students that live in Ft. Thomas. I would expect that a lot Ft. Thomas Highlands supporters would also support NewCath.
