I have seen pretty much all of T's QB's and I say he has a stronger arm than any of them. Likewise, a stronger arm than Redman, Ahrens and Bush, all of whom I've seen. I did not see Couch in high school so I am not commenting on him as compared with Smith. I believe that Lorenzen played when HHS beat T in the Mt. Sterling game (I think it was) in Beatty's first year...and not to be sacrilegious, but I think he has a stronger arm than the HHS QB in that game.

I think Gino Guidugli was the quarterback for Highlands in that game.

I think you did a good job promoting a very worthy candidate in Mr. Parker. I also know it was not your intent in the final paragraphs but, while not naming specific people there is a "back-handed" inference that maybe other candidates are "prima donnas" or have less of a team focus in mind. Or that perhaps they are dishonest in taking all the trips.

I inserted several names, and I still didn't get the same conclusion. I simply see him stating Parker's response to what others in Parker's life were telling him to do, and then talking about Parker's approach to the season and his recruitment. I really don't think CoachJ meant it the way you're taking it...and the main reason is that it just isn't CoachJ's way. But, I did re-read the post again to make sure I didn't miss anything. I still think he's been misinterpreted.

By NO MEANS was I intending any back-handed slight to those kids for doing what 99% of high school kids out there would do (and, incidentally, what I would've done myself!). I never meant to imply that promoting themselves as much as they could, or wanting to play in All-Star games, or wanting to increase their college options was WRONG in ANY way for any HS athlete.

 

Main intent was just to say that just because DeVante did NOT do those things -- and thus never received the 'star-rating' or gazillion BCS offers he certainly would have if he'd done so -- that I hoped he wouldn't then be PENALIZED because the other kids DID do what was perfectly normal, expected, and right for any other kid their age to do.

 

The "prima dona" comment was not in any way about any of the 'candidates' mentioned on this thread -- it was in reference to many OTHER kids of Division-1 caliber who (as are well-documented) think the world owes them something because they were blessed with more quick-twitch muscles than you or me.

I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to watch some very good football players this year. I reside in the Louisville area and can only speak of the kids that I have seen play. First and foremost the talent level in this senior class is pretty remarkable. Fern Creek will graduate 3 Division 1 players, Ballard has 2 that I know of, Eastern also graduates 2 and Seneca has 2. These guys were impressive and will represent the area well. With that being said you couldn't go wrong with any of these guys for Mr. Football. For what its worth my top 5 Louisville seniors in no particular order. Smith(Seneca) throws 70+ yds effortlessly, Parker(Ballard) Great size,speed,and hands. Davis(Eastern)played RB/LB, Projected TE in college rarely left the field. Moore(Fern Creek) pure grace wih the ball. Hardin(Ballard) hard nosed 2 way player. Just my thoughts. Any one of these guys are worthy of Mr. Football consideration.

Very nice of you to say that; but I must respectfully disagree. My guess is that in the future he (and a few of the other guys mentioned in this thread) will be coached by MUCH better -- I see his as a career that could have coaches named Belichik, Tomlin, Schottenheimer, etc.

I see what you were saying. Truth be told that was my first thought when I read it but after taking in the whole post I felt 100% certain he wasn't speaking on or against any other candidates but I see how it could interpreted that way.

Just spoke with a Mr. Football voting journalist who said that Parker will get his vote unless Dawson does something this weekend to earn his vote. He also said that he doesn't know if Parker will get enough votes statewide to get Mr. Football. Based off of that information and seeing as how Eastern and Western Kentucky voters have seen Lamar I can say that he could be the front runner and that his chances to win Mr. Football are lot better than I thought.

If Lamar wins Mr. Football I'll be happy for him, but I'm sure I've heard him mention before that a Team State Title is the most important achievement. If the state does not acknowledge Lamar as Mr. Football, Titletown will along with Jeff Duggins, Brandon Smith and Reese MacShara.
