It’s customary for coaches to empty their benches at the end of a blowout game, and that was the case Friday night at Sower Field during Beechwood’s 56-13 win against Frankfort. Among those coming off the bench for Frankfort was senior Austin Clark.

 

Austin is blind. He came in and played nose tackle on defense, making a pair of tackles in the process. These were no fluke tackles. Clark fired off on the snap of the ball, stayed low and kept going until the whistle blew. When it came time for the Panthers to go on offense, Clark went in and played right guard. On one play he blocked his man 10+ yards down the field as a running play went to the opposite side. The Panthers would go on to score their lone touchdown of the second half while Clark was playing.

 

It would be easy for any player to give up with his team trailing like Frankfort was, particularly after the Panthers had matched Beechwood in the first half play for play and trailed just 14-7. This kid didn’t give up.

 

Covering sports is a pretty cool gig most of the times. Scenes like Austin Clark playing Friday night help remind us sometimes cynical hacks of that fact

Yes that was Austin just one of the special seniors that we lose. He hasn't missed a practiced in 4 years. He don't sit out of drills. He is an inspiration to our team.

 

He also is the best pick - pocket in the world. In 4 years he was able to remove my keys at least once a week and me not know it until it was time to go home.

Also explains some of the loud cheers late in the game from the Frankfort faithful!

I got chills reading that!!

Not only does he play football. But he is in the band. Also is an outstanding Student.

Hats off to Beechwood Tigers they are the better team.

 

First half was a heavy weight fight. Officials blew a call that on what they called a backwards pass that gave Beechwood a cheap TD.

 

Second half major turning point FHS drove to the 1st goal and threw a int of the 1 yard line. Could have tied the game. Beechwood drove down and score. Those two series was the difference. Blown coverage on the Beechwood next series led to another TD put the Tigers up 28-7. FHS offense had to rely on the passing game. Threw a few more picks and game was out of hand at that point.

 

Proud of my Panthers the dirty -thrity fought hard all season.

No way you can tell from the video IMO.

This is a Playoff game, kids bringing their A game the Ref's should too. You almost have to be Parrallel to see if it was a backward pass or not. no way you can tell from that video.

Yep, That is what I was told too. That they had a great angle that is.

It appears from the score the one touchdown even if it was not a backwards pass would not have not meant much.
