^ I hear what you are saying about momentum Hip Hop. The way this game went from 28 to 56 points for Beechwood shows how things can go downhill fast. This game was a tighter game than the score shows. But ... I don't see this Frankfort team beating Beechwood. As Coach Buckett said, too much depth on Beechwood for Frankfort to hang for a whole game. Great effort by Frankfort. They were definitely well prepared for Beechwood. But the only time I even had a thought that Frankfort might have a chance was that opening drive of the second half. If Frankfort could have scored there, I think Beechwood has to battle a lot longer and they only win by maybe 2 or 3 scores.

 

Frankfort definitely had the speed we heard so much about before the game. The skills guys were very fast and fearless. I can see how Frankfort rolled over most teams on their schedule with that speed. However, Beechwood had the speed to match them. For example, the breakaway run in that opening second half drive where 3 guys from Beechwood were able to run down the RB. Against almost every other team in 1A, the Frankfort back scored on that play. Turn it around, on Vocke's long run one player from Frankfort had a good enough angle to maybe catch him but was just a little short on speed. Frankfort is very fast and so is Beechwood. This game was a good battle till Bechwood got up by 3 scores and then it just fell apart for Frankfort.

 

Congrats to Frankfort on a very good season.

Agree to a point but these type of plays happen in every game to one degree or another. You could what if yourself to death with these things. Like Walton vs. Frankfort, many points were that could have been momentum swings. You all probably remember them, fumble in the end zone for a Frankfort TD being the worst but not only one. They happen and you never know just what could have been.

From what I have been told Beechwood had just as much as speed as they did.

I for one was getting very concerned about the number of flags at "key" points in the game. I was happy the game didn't come down to leaving in the ref's hands.

First let me say I still think Beechwood was the better team.

 

Secondly the officials in this game had to be the worse I have seen in a long time. (Both ways)

 

The backwards pass - indeed was a forward pass. What makes it worse the official that doesn't make the call is not looking at the game. He is looking at the FHS sideline. Why who knows.

 

Beechwood is up 21 -7 and drivingin the 3rd quarter #24 is running the football for Beechwood. gets hit and clearly fumbles the football and the official calls him down after FHS picks up and is running with the football. Two plays later Beechwood scores to go up 28-7. After this score you can clearly see the Panthers lose all of their wind.

 

Once again I am not saying that FHS would have won the game. But what I am saying is what was a great high school football for about 2 1/2 quarters turned into a blowout because of the lack of knowledge of grown men.

I agree with Coach B, That's what I was saying... momentum kills. Not saying the scored would have been reversed but would have been a more interesting ball game.
