What do you expect of those newly elected tomorrow?

Featured Replies

Going with the assumption that there will be a new yearbook of faces in Washington early next year, what do you expect will change? What do of think will really happen once they get there? Not what you would like to happen, but what the reality will be.

Nothing, which is exactly what I want. When two dispicable, corrupt parties control the political landscape, a stalemate is a wonderful thing to wish for.

A sad state of affairs.

I expect obstructionism and gridlock on a monumental scale.

At least we know that if the "Rs" control the legislative branch, we can count on your vote for a "D" in the executive.:thumb:

Corruption, infidelity, and gaffes.

A sad state of affairs.

What exactly is so sad about that?

I guess I will be the sucker and expect the new blood to keep their promises and begin to changes things. I will give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove me wrong.

What I hope: A repeat of 1994.

What I think: What Bugatti said.

What exactly is so sad about that?

TTC said he wanted a stalemate - that's exactly what he wanted.

I find that sad. When "nothing" is the goal, I don't see the benefits.

I expect the newbies to all be Washingtonized in rather short order. They will be swallowed into their respective parties. The Tea Partiers that do get elected will slowly become part of the established party. And one thing is certain - anyone saying they are only there for 2 or 3 terms, will still be in office 25 years from now.

This is exactly what I hope doesn't happen but afraid your right.

I think I see where you are coming from. However, I would take a stalemate over the amount of spending and borrowing that has gone on over the past 10 years. Maybe the federal government doing less versus more could be a good thing?
