November 1, 201015 yr I saw this on a sign at a political rally over the weekend. If Jesus is a liberal, then why are all the saved and confirmed Christians Republicans? Is Jesus a liberal?
November 1, 201015 yr His views on homosexuality don't seem too liberal, nor do his abortion views....:idunno:
November 1, 201015 yr a radical ? yes . a liberal ? oh most definetly. Reminds me of a combo of Rachael Maddow and Keith Oberman . just like those two fine lib's.
November 2, 201015 yr His views on homosexuality don't seem too liberal, nor do his abortion views....:idunno: I don't recall Jesus mentioning either one of those socially conservative hot topics. Although I do recall him saying blessed are the poor, telling the rich young ruler to sell everything he had and give it to the poor, saying that the goats who would be separated for him were those who did not visit the imprisoned, nor give food to the poor, but that the lambs who would join him were those who took care of the least of these. I do recall him telling Peter to put away his sword, because those who lived by it would die by it. I do recall him saying that whoever was without sin should cast the first stone. I remember him saying blessed are the peacemakers for theirs is the kingdom of God. Blessed are the merciful for they will obtain mercy. He encouraged people to pay taxes. If you have a big dinner, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind because they cannot repay you. If someone takes your coat, offer them your shirt also. If they ask you to walk a mile you should go two. Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despite-fully use you, and persecute you. I remember him saying something about turning the other cheek. I will stop there for now.
November 2, 201015 yr ace --surely you don't need any one to quote you a dozen or more verses from both the new and old test stating God's view on homosexuality ? You obviously know the Bible . What gives ? I agree 100% with everything you posted but why leave out exactly what God does have to say about sexuality ? thank you

He had George Clooney on speaking about the Darfur work he has been doing. They got talking about charitable donations and Clooney says that when it comes to charity work on Darfur, conservatives have done more in terms of giving.

November 2, 201015 yr ok, the little you do recall do you just ignore ? Lets not kid ourself's . Homosexuality is sin, just like NOT following all those things you mentioned in your post. We should treat everyone super well , esp those less fortunate, but you can't ignore what scripture says about sexual immorality of all sorts. No picking and choosing in my view. I understand 110% I'm no better than any person with same sex tendencies, each of us has a sin problem. each needs a savior .
November 2, 201015 yr I don't remember God or Jesus saying a thing in the world about abortion, nor do I remember much about homosexuality. He doesn't say anything about abortion, but he does talk about taking innocent lives, which is what murder is. I beleive he talks about us as children in the womb as well.....

The question that I always struggle with is that if this sin is no different from any other(which it clearly isn't in scripture) then why are homosexuals treated with such disdain and inequality amoung "Christians"? So much so that the religious right uses the disdain to influence secular law to deny basic human rights IMO.
November 2, 201015 yr Jesus is compassionate. He loves everyone. He sees past our inabilities, our shortcomings and our failures. He accepts us where we are. It's up to us to accept Him! He loves the homosexual (practicing or not), He loves the abortionist while they are laying on the table, He loves all sinners. The choice isn't His to love us, it's ours to accept His love! When we accept HIM, we want to be like HIM!
November 2, 201015 yr I personally don't think Jesus would take a political stance. I think he would be a little like Ron Paul...pointing out more subtely the hypocrisy in folks point of view.
November 2, 201015 yr I don't remember God or Jesus saying a thing in the world about abortion, nor do I remember much about homosexuality. If you believe 2 Timothy 3:16 (says that all Scripture is God-breathed), then God/Jesus said a lot about those things. If you don't believe 2 Timothy 3:16, then our argument is about something entirely different. When GWB was running for President in 2000, he had an interview w/ Bill O'Reilly who was challenging him for Biblical support for the death penalty. Bush responded with something and O'Reilly stated, "But Jesus didn't say that." And that was what I thought back then too. I believe all Scripture comes from God--that if you printed a true red-letter edition of the Bible (where Jesus' words are printed in red), technically the whole thing would be red.
