What is proficient? Is that 50% completion rate, 65%, 75%?

 

Completing enough to keep a defense honest and win the game! A percentage is moot because a team could complete 100%, but if they only throw it 10 times a game or only throw 10 yard passes or less, then it is not going to keep a championship defense like Trinity honest or be enough to beat them!

I believe Ryle coach Bryson Warner has done an outstanding job as he continues to push this program forward. He continues to set higher goals. He wants his team to play a tougher schedule. He offered to schedule Highlands twice a year, because he wanted to play the best school in northern KY. Highlands has a great program and this is where every high school would like to be as far as championships. He sets the bar high for his kids. Congrats to coach Warner keep driving forward.

 

Per my post in another thread about feeder programs and Coach Warner....... I agree with you 100% KY Rebel, Coach Warner and the whole Ryle program has done an outstanding job and they continue to push the program forward! A perfect case in point was this years Union Raiders football team.

 

I thought the best thing about the Union Raiders was the relationship they had with the Ryle varsity team. Whether it was Coach Warner inviting the team into the locker room prior to varsity games, having them walk out on the field with the varsity team prior to games, standing on the sidelines with the team, personally attending the Union Raiders games, having the varsity players help out with practice, sharing their practice field (and game field), sharing their locker room, allowing the Union Raiders to run similar (or the same) offense as the varsity team and even allowing the Union Raiders to have the same helmet decal as the varsity team. All in all, it was a great experience it seemed for the boys of the Union Raiders and a lot of the credit goes to the Ryle varsity coaching staff, Rick Scherrer, Ted Morgan, and all the assistant coaches for making the inaugural season of the Union Raiders, in my opinion, an overwhelming success.

 

Not to mention the team was very good and won a ton of games!!!

 

I believe the Ryle program is going to be in good hands for years to come with the progression that has been established with the Union Raiders. These boys said time and time again how they couldn't wait to play all the way through high school together.

How much interaction is permitted in Boone County with high school coaches and the youth football leagues? Are the Union Raider players going to Ryle or are they permitted to go to other schools?

My understanding and I could be wrong is that the league allowed a draft and therefore players were not playing with people they would eventually go to school with. So Coach Warner went out and selected a team(s) based on where they lived that would eventually be going to Ryle so they could play together. I believe this team played in the nky middle school league and not the Boone County youth football league. If I'm mistaken someone please correct me.

I think next year Ryle will look like Boone County did this year all run. Elliot is very good but they will have a young QB and they lose their big guys up front and Mace on defense. Elliot will have to carry this team next year.

 

I mostly agree with this. They may try to add a little more of a passing game than what Boone does, but I would think that their passing game will be minimized in comparison to what it's been over the past two seasons.

I don't know that the coach directly selected them but the bigger point is that the bcyfl had a county wide draft. Coach warner from my understanding wanted the league to not draft but to have the kids in Ryle's district play for the same team, Boone county's district the same, same for Cooper etc. The league refused so the kids that lived in Ryle's district formed a team and left the bcyfl and played in a different league. I don't know the exact situation so I didn't mean to suggest that anything was done against any rules which I'm sure it was not.

Yes sir that is what I meant, the talent is there in Boone County. Even with a middle school proram, you still have to find an answer for T or X.

I don't know. I'm very unfamiliar with the process in NKY. You guys have provided great information on these issues. I've gotten quite a few private messages from Louisville school supporters.

It makes sense with Jefferson County being completely open. The rule doesn't make sense in NKY. My question would be does is also apply to private school coaches in Jefferson County?

Correct me if i am wrong, but can't a student in Ft. Thomas, KY can go to other public schools besides HHS?

 

If yes, is that different for a student in Union, KY?
