October 24, 201015 yr I smell a familiar smell..... It's either Steve Brown and his coaching ability or the Music City Bowl. Maybe its a mixture of the two... Defense did not play badly tonight, gave up less than 300 total yards. Georgia scored most of their TD's on a short field due to turnovers, UK getting stuffed on 4th down in their own territory and a failed onside kick. Georgia also returned a kickoff 100 yds. for a TD.
October 24, 201015 yr Personally, I thought the defense was terrible. Yes, they were put in bad positions due to turnovers and a bad onside kick, but they also made a mediocre running back look like a Doak Walker Award winner.
October 24, 201015 yr Author Personally, I thought the defense was terrible. Yes, they were put in bad positions due to turnovers and a bad onside kick, but they also made a mediocre running back look like a Doak Walker Award winner. Not true. Georgia only had 177 yds. total rushing. The key was turnovers. (see above)
October 24, 201015 yr Turnovers: UK -- 4 GA -- 0 4 turnovers = loss everytime if your defense is not creating turnovers too. UK just cannot put up a good four quarters of quality football. Hartline looked pretty good as did the recievers. No run game, though. Need to do a lot better of a job protecting the ball. UK blew a golden opportunity tonight.
October 24, 201015 yr Not true. Georgia only had 177 yds. total rushing. The key was turnovers. (see above) Obviously the key was turnovers. They still allowed a mediocre back to rush for 157 yards and 5 TDs.
October 24, 201015 yr This team is so confusing. I am really impressed with how much Hartline has matured. I don't care whate anyone says, the man has gotten pretty darn good.
October 24, 201015 yr Not just turnovers, but where they turned the ball over. You can't fumble on your 5 yard line and expect not to give up a TD. The Defense had to defend a short field most of the night. I don't think the defense played bad. Overall the offense played decent.( except Turnovers) The coaching staff made some mistakes; 1. Onside Kick - defense had just gotten a stop you score. Let the defense have another chance. 2. Going for it on your own 39???? You best running back out of the game???

I believe that was the right call. There's no excuse that they shouldn't of gotten that. It was literally fourth and like a 1/4 of a foot. It was actually quite sad that they didn't get that.
October 24, 201015 yr Run defense has been terrible all year. Powell from UL ran for 153 in the opener. Rainey from WKU ran for 184. Newton from Auburn ran for 198. Burton from Florida ran for 5 TD's. Now Ealey for 157 yards and 4 TD's. Turnovers are and were a killer, but you have to be able to stop the run. Heck, UK put 9 in the box on that 1 drive in the 2nd half and still couldn't stop the run. Just saying.
October 24, 201015 yr Turnovers: UK -- 4 GA -- 0 That tells a big part of the story right there. Also, coming into this game UGA has been playing as well as anyone in the SEC with the exception of Auburn. JMO Besides, UGA now has a permanet mascot. UGA the bulldog is now in place and the interim is out. Watchout for the Dawgs, they are now ready to go

I agree, there have been plenty of coaches down through the years making the statement "if we can't gain less than a yard then we don't deserve to win". I tend to agree with that, it's a gut check and they failed.
