A few points I would like to hit on in this thread;

 

1. Where are all of the posters that bashed Conner in the prediction thread? They seem to have disappeared.

2. I question the Cooper coaches decision to run the ball on 3rd and goal with 13.4 seconds to play with zero timeouts. Horrible decision imo. I roll my QB and throw the ball. If it's incomplete, the clock stops and you live for another play. In this game, the clock ran out on their 4th down play. I think they put to many marbles in the Bradley bucket and it cost them the game. IMO, football is all about being unpredictable, and frankly, Cooper was very predictable on the goal line stand.

3. I think Bradley is/was Cooper's entire team. Conner showed a balanced attack, and returns many, many skilled players to the 2011 team. I say it here and now. Cooper will get their first district win next year in 5A, but it will NOT be against Conner. It will probably come against Scott or Grant County (depends on who they play first). Conner returns some serious talent, and will own this district for the next three years for sure.

 

Great game tonight, but both D's need work. I think Conner will roll in the JV game tomorrow morning. I believe this game has ignited a great rivalry to become.

 

You are probably correct since the top 6 Soph's play on Friday's and Soph's are normally your top JV players. Good call, you should go into sports betting. Conner was VERY lucky to win this game as neither team could stop the other in contrasting offenses. I agree on giving the ball to Bradley but I pitch it to the outside and let him outrun the defense instead of pounding it up the middle when everyone was in the box. He made nearly all 400 yards up the middle but when you are on the goal line it's tough to do. As far as Conner winning this game the next three years, it may happen, but we will just have to wait and see. It should be some good games.

To now say Conner is even a good football team would be a large stretch. They lost by multiple touchdowns to 2A Holy Cross. Yes they are in the playoffs and the Cougars will play exactly 11 games this year. They were better than Boone and a 3rd year program Cooper in 6A in Northern Kentucky.

 

Please be sure to post and boast about the Cougars after game 1 in the playoffs. If they win that game I will give you many props.

I talked to Cooper's stat man a bit after the game. Bradley finished with 410 and 4 TD's I believe. Keep your head up Jags, you guys have worked your tail ends off and have nothing to be ashamed of. Coach Borchers has done a great job with this team in the 3 years it has been around.

Your nuts if you think this guy is a 6 A coach . He can take the blame in about 4 games this year !!!!! Im just glad this is my sons last year with him ! IMO he should go back to Ludlow were he belongs !!! You can tell the boys there coach lost that game for them, since you must be a coach on the team !!! Any parent on the team would not defend that guy .....

Bradley ran for 410 yards last night... 410 yards. Why wouldn't you give it to him 3 times on the goal line? He ate Conner's defense alive. IMO it was the best thing to do. I can guarantee if Borchers had decided to throw the ball in that situation the exact opposite would be said and people would be saying why wouldn't you give the ball to Bradley 3 times on the one? I guess though that's the reason we're in the stands. It's easy to question everything when you have no clue about the program or see the kids at practice everyday. Congrats to Conner on the win, good luck in the playoffs.

Uhh........maybe because there are only 13.4 seconds left in the game and you have used up all of your timeouts, and if you run on third down and get stuffed (which is what happened), the clock would run out?? Invincible, district owning?? Not sure what you are talking about here. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Conner has been 5A playing in 6A. They will own their new 5A district, mark it down.

Yes they are in the playoffs. Nothing else matters. They will be playing in two weeks and win or lose, they made the playoffs. Not sure why you want to take away from a big accomplishment. I am not the one on here that was spewing words about how great Cooper was, and how bad they were going to beat Conner. Now you are diminishing Cooper by referring to them as a 3rd year 6A team? C'mon, you can't have it both ways. The future is very bright for the Conner program. They will be playing in 5A where they belong for the next several years, and will enjoy tremendous success. Not sure what ax you have to grind with Conner, but it's obvious. No matter what they accomplish, sounds like it will never live up to your lofty standards. Go Cougars!!

Cooper had 4A numbers this year playing 6A. Next year they will have 5A numbers.

Just curious as I really don't know but how many Soph's at Conner play ONLY Varsity? I believe Fogle is one. Are there others?

You obviously have not been around a lot of HS football. As difficult of a task as it was to begin a program from scratch, Cooper has risen from doormat to competitive in 3 seasons. Most ridiculed the decision to play a Varsity schedule from the get go but Cooper has proven to be a program on the rise. Maybe what you should be doing is thanking your son's fellow senior class for helping establish the program at Cooper HS. I understand there are high expectations in Boone Co. with football but you have been in a better situation than many schools throughout the state. Borchers has done a fine job and Cooper is improved faster than most would have thought. I personally think Cooper is in better shape for the future than Conner.

Thank you for one of the most entertaining posts I have read on here! Well, I guess I'll address some of the things you said, but I'll do it in a classy style as I know kids get on here and read these things.

 

His play calling is the worst you've seen... well I guess you haven't been to a lot of football games. His play calling scored 40 points and 99 out of 100 times, you win when you score 40. I'm nuts if I think he is a 6A coach? He is coaching a 6A school so I guess I'm not that crazy. I'm sorry you feel happy this is your sons last year with him. I am positive that Coach Borchers is very thankful for whatever role your son played in helping to develop this program. Go back to Ludlow where he belongs? Not sure how to take that. I have known Randy for a very long time and consider him to be a good friend so I have followed him through his coaching career which means I attended quite a few Ludlow games in my day. Have to say it is a great little town with very passionate fans and people and if you are on here with a negative attitude towards Coach Borchers and then telling him to go back to Ludlow where he belongs I guess that means you aren't viewing Ludlow in a very high manner. That's a shame you would have to stoop to that level. I would keep your day job as your detective skills are far from the truth. I am in no way, shape, or form affiliated with Cooper football except for the fact that Randy is a good friend of mine and I support him and the good things that he has done with this program. As for no parent defending him, I would disagree with that. I talk to parents every week and a lot of them are proud of the team and the way they have improved in 3 years. So quick people are to forget of that very first loss to Conner... What was it 57-0? Now the boys are competing and having fun! It's a great thing to watch!

Have you ever voiced your displeasure with the coach or have you just come on here and bashed him behind your computer? I know it is easy to get on here and rant but the fact of the matter is that Coach Borchers is the coach, he is developing his talent well, and I look for them to be very strong in 5A over the next few years.

 

To all of the players who probably read this, know that the man who is coaching you is a good man who will lead you in the right direction not only in football, but in life. He is someone that you can always count on to help when times get tough. Keep your heads up and continue to fight. Work hard and the winning will come. For a 3rd year program, you have taken great strides and everyone should be proud of the roll they played to help make Cooper High School a competitor. Hey I guess that's why we're not on the sidelines. With the pressure Conner was bringing on that last play there is no way the QB for Cooper would have had a shot at completing it. I know if I am a head coach, with the game on the line, on the 1 yard line, I'm going with my division I running back.

That could be true. However if they do try to pass like you said, and it does not work. Then people would say the exact opposite and say why don't you give it to your best player, a guy who has already ran for 400 yards. There is no way they stop him 3 straight times from one yard away, when they didn't stop him all night. I believe that was the right decision to give it to him. There is no way anyone would have thought that after putting up 400 plus yards, that Conner would be able to stop him three times from one yard out. It just didn't work out thats all, its very easy to question it after the fact.

Are you kidding me? They scored 40 plus points in this game, and so his play calling is horrible? Wow what more do you want? It seems like maybe your son plays on the offense, and your just not happy that they give the ball to Bradley and not him. However it would have been horrible playcalling if they didn't keep giving Bradley the ball. He ran for over 400 yards, so apparently they were not stopping him. So that would be dumb to stop doing what was working. I don't think I have ever seen someone say play calling is horrible when they score 40 points in a game. So it must be something like I said at the beginning, because I just don't get it.

 

Its a real shame you feel this way though, because I am sure your son did a great deal in helping turn this program around. In 3 short years, Cooper has now been competiting with every single 6A school except SK this year, and yet you still complain. He must be doing something right there, because Cooper has made big improvements each year. As for your little Ludlow statement that is a completely wrong, and a put down of Ludlow. There is no need for that, especially when you probably have no clue what its like at Ludlow. Its a great football town, with great supporters. Ludlow was sad to see him leave, however was very happy for him to get the chance at Cooper. He is a great coach and is doing a great job there. For anyone who thinks otherwise must have something personal effecting their opinion, or have unrealistic expectations. To be where Cooper is now, just shows how great Coach Borchers and staff have done there.
