Was reading the article in the Enquirer this morning where Highlands soccer team won the regional title and will host a first round state game. The coached talked about not wanting to play at Tower Park because of the field conditions and weather......and then went on to say they really like playing on turf. Then talked about moving the game to.........................Dixie????????

 

Is not Highlands football field turf? Quite frankly from what I have observed they are very generous in the usage of the field with outside groups. Why would the game not be played there.........It is supposed to be Tuesday night...........

No..

No they play soccer games at Bellevue's football field, Dayton's football field, etc. Although maybe they do not meet a field dimension regualtion for a state game...............Kind of like you can play regular season baseball games on fields but a lot of fields do not meet post season requirements.................................

That's what I was thinking. I also don't recall any markings for soccer. And as someone else mentioned, there may well be stipulations on size for postseason soccer just as their is in baseball.

Certainly understandable why the coach would not want to play at Tower Park. That field is in miserable shape, and is just an invitation to player injury.

Why wouldn't they approach Newport? Seems more convenient

I think there is generous usage of the field, however....HHS football has a short week with Ryle on Thursday night and I suspect that practices Monday & Tuesday may be a little extended and could complicate scheduling...if the field was even playable for soccer. It is not lined out for soccer.

Yes lets make sure it is clear that they are very generous in the usage of the field. Much better than most school districts................

Just an observation of complexes at Dixie, Ryle, and SK, the soccer out of bounds lines are further out than the football out of bounds line.

First of all the field must be between 100 and 120 yards long, and it has to be between 55 and 80 yards wide.

Highlands field is too small for a soccer field. #1 it's not lined for soccer, and yes, a soccer field is much wider, and as everyone know's that has been to the Birds Nest, it's very tight on both sides which can also cause injuries. Why are they not using Town and Country or the Field at NKU?
