The soccer coach needs to stop with the field complaints. The state championship game is played in Georgetown on a natural similar surface. Deal with it.

NKU doesn't LET high schools use their new soccer field. They rent it - to the tune of $1200-1300 dollars. It is a shame that the HHS football field wasn't put in to also be a soccer field. Teams playing on grass fields are definitely in the minority, although the sate game is played on a very poor field at Georgetown - unless some changes have been made there.

Highlands football field is just that , a FOOTBALL FIELD. I heard that there have been many improvement to the soccer facilities this year and alot of money spent there. If the field is so bad , forego some of the other things and put some money into the field.

 

Every field is in bad shape this year due to the draught.

 

 

Oh and I can't stand the dual football/soccer fields. Makes it miserable to watch the game. Too many lines. I'm sure the soccer folks wouldn't want to have to deal with all those messy football hash marks and yard lines.

I'm not kidding at all!! It would certainly make economic sense to have a multi-purpose facility. We'd all be willing to share if we could have something like Dixie. Should I open a can of worms with this suggestion - Make the Tower Park facility the new HHS football/soccer/track stadium. All could share that for games and share the field at school for practice. It could be widely used by the community and hopefully there would be several sources of income to fund it.

 

As far as "many improvements" to the soccer facility this year - yes, there is a new concession stand and restrooms under construction. And it has taken many years of selling hotdogs to fund it. The amount being spent, largely due to the work being done mostly by volunteers, would cover almost nothing as far as a new surface for the actual field. Track did have a new storage shed built so equipment didn't have to be stacked outside year around, including the fairly new pole vault pit paid for by HABA.

 

If you look around, dual football/soccer fields are taking over. I'm sure everybody would get used to the various lines and hashmarks.

Logistically this would be a nightmare for football to move it off of campus. Just ask programs like Campbell Cty and NewCath and I am sure many others. Total opposite for them, they feel like it makes more economic sense to put the new facilities on their HS campus and not have to travel every wk for games. Look, Highlands is landlocked and the idea of moving Football off of campus makes no sense both economically and or tradionally. Playin at DCM is been know to be a TD advantage because of the environment. When soccer becomes as sucessful as Football at Highlands then one can make those suggestions and demands. Bringing this argument into a Highlands Football thread is really a no win situation. You might want to double check the title of this thread, it speaks volumes. I think you are absolutely right, Tower Park would make a wonderfull Soccer / track stadium . Football is fine where it is. I'm sure you will find many who will want to share it for games and it will be widely used by the community and I hope you will find several sources of income to fund it.

 

But I think the football field is fine where it is and will probably be there for some time.:thumb:

To Sweeperboy - Maybe you should go back and read the earlier posts on this thread, starting with the first one. It is largely about soccer being played on football fields. Not sure why it was started on football, maybe just to get some sparks flying. Just saying...
