When I initially heard the score of this game, it was 20-6 and we began talking about SK on our broadcast and wondering what was going on.

 

Probably a half hour later we check and SK is up 34-27...WOW.

 

This team has shown a lot of character this season, coming back from a deficit against Dixie and Boone.

The whole atmosphere in Independence was "flat", I couldn't believe how small of a crowd was there for the opening kickoff. Boone pretty much just smacked SK in the mouth and continued to do so for much of the first half. Even when Oppenheimer was getting stopped he was grinding out five yards or more. Going into the half I couldn't believe how the Rebs were owning the LOS, and I didn't know what to expect when they came back on the field for the second half. I believe SK held the Rebels without a first down for every one of their drives in the second half, the biggest Rebel play being a long pass and catch by Cain that set up the last Boone score. I thought the lack of extra points was going to bite us in the rear, I never thought we would score forty-two point in the second half. Boone's backup long snapper had some issues, practically rolling two back to the punter. One of those punts went for a yard or two. Lawrence tossed for 300+, and ran for 120, he broke the all-time passing record tonight previously held by Justin Bishop. Winkler and Reilly both went over 100 yards receiving, Winkler becoming the all-time leader for receiving (season and career). Camels come to town next week to battle for a first round home game. SK better not sleep on the Camels.

 

Could have come out flat because of all the stock the community put in the Ryle game the week before.

Congrats to SK on showing some toughness in coming back. The best thing about 6A football in Northern Kentucky is most of the teams are relatively closely matched. The worst thing is the team that survives thinks they are ready for the Louisville big boys.

From the stands it looked like a punch was thrown, if so isn't that immediate ejection. I don't think I've ever seen a game with so many off-setting penalties. Now about the game! SK made some half time adjustments to stop the run game and Boone made no adjustments to maintain the pressure they put on SK in the first half. Big pass plays by Boone in the first half, and I think they only thre two plays in the second half. Lawrence is a beast and pretty much the SK offense. Oppenheimer had another great performance, but again he needs some help when the defense sets up to stop him alone. Has the question been asked why does Boone not use #88 on the defense since they don't use him on the offense, the kid pretty much beat up any SK defensive lineman that lined up against him. Wasn't there, but then don't your comments mean that SK coaches did a far superior job than the Boone coaches with regards to said adjustments?

Has to be frustrating for you LTG. Boone could be such a good team if their players and talent were used and untilized properly.

 

They should really use Brown on both sides of the ball the way they used Davis a few years ago.

It is frustrating to watch that entire senior group walk off the field week after week with disappointing results. The talent is definitely there for this to be better than a three win season. It will be interesting to see what happens with that football program next year. Brown, Oppenheimer, Fookes and maybe a couple others could be used more on defense to help out. I really don't understand that program.

LTG I can't agree with you enough. The program will never get back on there feet until the Qb and the philsophy is fixed. Boone's players did not lose this game. They did not give up. They came out and smacked Sk in the mouth the first half. THEN, the second half comes. Both teams needed there coaches for help. They needed adjustments, Boone coaches needed to emphasize the game is not over. Stuff like that. I think Coach Thompson at heart is a good guy. But lets face it he knows nothing about football. Until there are serious changes with how they run there program, the same results as the last two years will continue to happen.

I think if Boone went to the spread, they would attract more players and be a force again.
