The only time X can win a title is on a Trinity down year. Have you noticed that your X team is regressing instead of progressing ?

 

As far as the chest pounding goes , they should pound there chest as far as the JV and Frosh teams are concerned , ask the X players on those teams.

 

Chest pounding on the varsity is at a different level .Little 3A school winning state at the 5A level , pretty impressive wouldn't you think. No disrespect intended , but X's varsity doesn't want anything to do wth H's varsity this year or in the near future. :sssh:

Have to agree with this one. Understand Highlands has won a lot, but if you want to be considered the best, 300 or 1300 boys, you need to win the biggest class in the state.

A few comments...

 

1) What is X's JV record this year, and who is responsible for coaching the JV team? If X's JV team is as bad as you say then it speaks volumes about the X football program right now, given the size advantage X possesses over every KY school not named Trinity and the fact that X probably has the "highest-end" clientele of any high school in Kentucky (my apologies to the Manual students).

 

2) Oxnard, I am curious to know how you came up with the notion that Highlands fans are saying the Bluebirds are the best team in all of Kentucky this year. While I have heard a great deal of discussion about HHS being the best is Class 5A and in NKY, I can't say I recall many (or any) instances of HHS fans saying the 'Birds are better than Trinity this year. Perhaps during the summer but not during the regular season. Interestingly, the only sources I can come up with that do consider Highlands to be the best overall are Dave Cantrall's rankings and Litkenhous, both of which have HHS ranked first in KY. Perhaps the Cantrall and Lit ratings are secretly controlled by the Highlands BGP'ers!

 

3) As far as the T-HHS scrimmage goes, you are correct that T won the scrimmage. I will say that the real loser of that scrimmage was defense, as the winning team surrendered 42 points while the losing team gave up 49 (at least, I think that's what the final score was). The way I look at it is that while HHS and X both gave up about the same number of points to T, HHS just happened to score 42 more points than the Tigers managed to put up.

I agree that in football numbers play a significant role. However, what you ask of Highlands cannot be accomplished under the KHSAA's rules, since the KHSAA does not allow schools to play up in class solely for the purpose of being able to compete with bigger teams. All the KHSAA really cares about is geography in this regard. In order for HHS to be allowed to play in 6A, there would have to be a lack of 4A and 5A teams in NKY. I don't see that ever happening.

As I have said many times, no reason in the world why Trinity, Highlands and St.X shouldn't play consistently on the varsity level. That would stop the arguing, and start the excuse making.

Can't imagine Trinity would duck anybody since they're scheduling some of the best teams in Ohio, Tenn, and Indiana but I could be wrong.

 

Beatty seems to want to play whomever he thinks will best prepare Trinity to win the state title.

Why do you think any of these teams would duck the others? It has been pointed out that year after year after year all these teams are scheduling teams at least as strong as the other two. Your argument continues to make no sense until you answer why a team would duck one team and replace it with an equally or often stronger team. Trinity, St X and Highlands have all played Elder, Colerain or Cinti St X in the past. Do you really think they would duck the other KY schools to play the Cinti powers? As to the state's credibility, it is strengthened when these teams play out of state powers, not when they play within the state.
