I still feel manual has a solid team but makes too many small mistakes.

What is up with the terrible obsessive celebration call on X, are kids not allowed to have fun, there was nothing individual about it. That ref should be ashamed.

You can run up the hill, but you can't run up the hill and start a conversation with the fans standing there.

There are teams that you can make mistakes against, and beat on your athleticisim... but X is never on that list. The most fundamentally sound team in Kentucky High School football.

Congratulations to the Tigers on a hard fought victory tonight over a very talented Manual team. As I had noted earlier, having all their players back from injury tonight made a BIG difference for X. Although Vic Anderson, as expected, broke some great runs tonight, I thought the best was delivered by Mike Mattingly. After being totally engulfed in a sea of red players after a five-yard advance up the gut, Mike suddenly re-emerged like Superman sprinting the final 40 tards for the TD. The final score was a little misleading, as the Tiger subs gave up two poorly defended long pass plays to the Crimsons starters in the last three minutes of the contest.

Now it is on to John Hardin to take on the conquerors of #2 Male.

Their obsession was excessive.

We had this happen to Manual, Tim Horton scores on a run against either Iroquois or Male and runs up the hill and high fives a little kid and a penalty is called for Unsportsmanlike conduct. I wanted to ask the refs about that one that night, it seems to me that would actually be Sportsmanlike not UN.

I often ask the refs about calls I don't get or missed the signal on after games, I walk out at the same time after printing stats, calling media, and waiting for traffic to clear, and I park near them in the baseball outfield. If you ask politely and aren't accusatory or aggressive they will often explain the calls.

Tonight I asked the refs about Anderson's post touchdown penalty and one ref said he was right there and Vic went up the hill and was taunting a Manual group saying "How you like that!". That's the direct quote from the official.

I didn't question Manual's 2 post touchdown penalties since both were obvious, the first Horton throws the ball in the stands to Manual fans and the second White punts the ball after Horton scores.

Another dominating win for the Tigers! Keep it rolling down in E-town!

The STX radio tonight said this was the first time since 1959 (as far back as he looked) that X and Manual have lined up in the playoffs? Makes it a bigger game?

St. X will be the 4A state champs again. I'm just upset Manual didn't really put up a fight... at least not what they could have. But even still, clear all of Manuals mistakes off the table, it would've been an X victory. Congrats and good luck. I'm sure JH will have plenty to say next week, though.

ST. X will be the 4A State Champs again?? bold statement, but one you have have al the right to have. But I want to say that there are alot of football players at TRINITY that have alot to say about that " IT IS NOT OVER UNTIL THE FAT LADY SINGS". That is what is great about this game you have to still have to put on your pads and play the game "ASK THE HARDIN BOYS". Good luck next year to the Manual Football team and their Fans!!!

We need to stick to the game. This thread is NOT about Trinity and it is not about anyone's obsessions.

Great job by the Tigers-Redemption was achieved by the men in the trenches. Facing a team as physical as the Rams can be brutal and for the most part I think the Tigers came away from the game with just a couple of injuries-unfortunately they were to two key players and hopefully each will be good to go this Friday. Excellent job overall but special kudos have to go out to Chris Dornbrook, Michael Mattingly, Victor Anderson and the starting Tiger secondary on an outstanding game played. I had big fears about this Ram squad and this should be a great confidence boost for the X-men. Congrats to the very talented Senior Rams on a great 4 years of HS Football. :dancingpa

Congratulations to St. X on a big win and taking one more step to the pizza box. The Tigers are in playoff form reminiscent of last year’s run. After a tight 1st quarter the Tigers pulled away and the final score was not indicative of how St. X dominated the game. It was good to see so many St. X reserves get to play in the 2nd half.

According to the newspaper, coach Nichols blamed the loss on snakebites and the kids not making plays. Apparently there are no mirrors in the Nichols household. Maybe one of these days coach Nichols will stand up and take responsibility for his team’s performance, good and bad. Maybe he will admit that he got beat by a better team. Maybe it will be at his next school?

Good luck to St. X next week playing a very good John Hardin team.

I thought exactly the same thing when I read the paper this morning, Old Corps. Nichols needs to realize he is that teams leader. He needs to take responsibility for what they don't accomplish, and change it. Every week Glaser talks about how much more work he needs to do to get his team ready for the next game. No laurel resting. It is not a snake, Nichols.

St.X looks as if they are ready for another state title, but still have 3 tough obstacles to ovvercome. JH/X will be a battle.
