If you come all the way up the AA Highway make your way to 9th Street and go east and it will take you right to Newport Stadium. The interstate is a bridge right there by the field and there is plenty of parking under it. It is located in the east end of Newport.

Also the field is really close to Newport on the Levee, and for you Russell folks that will be staying the night or sticking around for a lil bit you may want to go over and check that out. Plenty of food and entertainment there.

Russell by a bunch, after watching Friday night, Russell by 2-3 TD's

For those of you who have never had the opportunity to eat there, (there are no Donatos in our area) it is worth it to stop...We need one in our area...EXCELLENT!!!

Russell - 35

Newport - 20

As for this week's game, I feel this is a better match up for Russell than Mercer was. The Devils have had more problems with the bigger physical teams. Not that RHS doesn't play physical football, but the team doesn't always match up with regards to size. Coach Morris has a pretty good record against teams that like to spread it out. Looking at recent games against common opponents, Russell handled Mercer and Fleming as well as East. Newport struggled against two of these teams and had the same margin against the other. Should be a good game, but I feel Russell gets one more at home this season as Ivan gets win #250 (to go with his 9th regional championship) Friday at Newport.

I think you meant GOREDDEVILS,. :D

Ooops!! Sorry about that!!

I started my reply and had to go do a few things & I came back & finished the post...I guess I forgot it was you that asked...I'm getting older you know!! :D

way older..... :D:D:D

Easy now!! I believe I remember passing you a time or two when I was wandering the halls of RHS... :p

I was just wondering if Newport's field is still down by the river and under the overpass? If I'm thinking correctly, Belfry played there in the 1986 3A playoffs and it was snowing and cold!!!!

Down by the river ? Maybe a mile away . Under the overpass? The x-way goes by it but not over it . It is in the same place that it has been since the WPA built it .

THe levee is worth it but the parking garage is bad and you have to contend with all the Buckeyes who have to cross the river to go to a place with class!!!

I will have to pick the Devils in this one too. Not because I am a Russell fan but because Newport has no idea what they are getting ready to face. It is hard to stop a team you spend all week learning the wing-T for it to be changed to the power I on Friday. Well it really doesnt matter what formation Ivan runs, he will run it until you stop it. He has done that from the beginning of time and it continues to work.

Devils 42

Newport 24

alot of INT in this game. I see Michael Horn and Kasey having 3-4 INT on Friday, this is of course if the QB can get the ball off. Defense is clicking and the O is nothing but POWER.

When is wagon train leaving the High School???????

Is Hesch that bad?

Is Hesch that bad?

The Russell "D" will be in Newports backfield all night long. Hesch will be forced to throw bad passes which will result in a few ints just ask Fleming County.

I guess we'll just have to see Friday?
