Will the East win every 4A title?

Featured Replies

To steal from theguru's thread. Do not forget that Lone Oak will be out of the picture in the near future. Even if Highlands were removed, the question would be the same.

Don't count out ACS this year. They should be favored out of the west and could put up are real fight. LO may improve and be more competitive by playoffs, but look for them to have a strong shot in BG next year to take the whole thing. They are very young this year and are expecting good things from JV and Frosh in 2011.

If you buy into the concept that all good teams remain good always and that all weak teams have no chance to ever get better, then sure.

Yes the east will continue to dominate. HIGHLANDS!

The East is going to be strong every year. It'd be hard to argue that a team from the West will be able to knock off one of the powers from the East.

Boyle, Highlands, Cov Cath, Lex Cath....Get real the west will never win, they have no talent out west and strength of schedule will prove to come in handy when the east meets the west.

The plus for the west teams is they won't have to beat any of the teams you mentioned until the championship game. A team like Highlands could potentially have to beat Rowan County, Johnson Central, Covington Catholic, and Boyle County just to get to the finals. So it depends on if you think teams are made better in the postseason by better competition or they are better off staying healthy and picking up wins.

Highlands could be playing cincy st x, trinity, louisville st x, elder, moeller, miami northwestern to get to the finals...it dont matter when you put them up against a west school they will be ready to play and if they do have injuries their backups are good enough to beat a good deal of west teams anyways.

Five years from now, if all four titles from 2011-15 haven't gone to the east side, I'll be stunned. And I'll come back to this thread and admit I was wrong.

Yeah, the east will win more, but, thats due to 1 team, Highlands and maybe 2, Boyle. Now if Lex Cath and Cov cath happen to win one those in the next 4-5 years, then I will be the 1st to admit the east is better. Otherwise, and until then, I say it's 1 dominant team, not an area they're from. I'd take Lone oak and Oboro all day long and twice on sundays over CC and LC. Lone Oak has taken Lex Cath to school the lst 2 yrs and CC has been mediocre at best the last 2-3 yrs, where I'd take 5 or 6 west teams and line em up and take my chances and feel pretty good about it. Let's not confuse 1 great power with a geographical advantage.

But if the West has the 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th and 8th best team in the state won't win them anything. In fact it may hurt them because the best team in the West may not make it to the finals every year. Whereas in the East with the Best and second best teams, one of them should make it, and win every year. I see Boyle and Highlands winning a lot of state championships.

And we see that too. What we also see are schools on that side that will try to boost their ego because those two teams win championships.

The "east" is not the power, those two are. If Lexington Catholic, Covington Catholic, Johnson Central, etc. make even one title game, I'll be shocked.

Exactly...

When NKy wins a 6a championship, holla at me...As a whole, 6a isn't very strong, so, there should be no problem with that, right?
