Boyle Co, LexCath and CovCath will give them playoff competition and challenge them. But none are as consistent as Highlands. Highlands will likely be the favorite most years for the foreseeable future.

Not exactly a big Highland's fan, but they will win 4-A until there is another realignment!! If this is in force until 2015-16, then just pencil in another 6-7 titles for the 'Birds!! On second thought make it in pen!!

Wow... that sucks for Boyle County.

Whatever. I'd have loved to have seen last year's versions of Boyle County and Highlands play along with this year's.

 

Better yet, Boyle County is planning on having a bowl game in the near future. We hear Trinity and St. X are interested in coming. I believe that Highlands was asked to come as well. Does anyone know what their answer was when extended an invitation to come down to TitleTown, Ky?:sssh:

I don't know about "none as consistent." Looking at it since 2000, Boyle had a "down time" from 2005 to 2007 when they really weren't contenders for the crown in 3A/4A. (or at least didn't show it in the playoffs)

 

Highlands had a "down time" in '01 and '02 when they really weren't contenders for the state crown in 3A.

 

Boyle has won 5 titles in those 10 years and been to the finals/semi-finals another 2 times. (When in the same Class Boyle won 3 titles and the Birds won 1)

 

The Birds have won 4 state titles and been to the semi-finals/finals 2 other times.

 

Both programs have had up cycles and down cycles of about the same length in the last 10 years. So I'm not ready to say that Boyle won't be competitive in the next 4 years with the Birds. :thumb:

I would think that some on here would be giving HHS the "more consistent" because of their dominance in 5A the last three years. Personally, I believe it is way to early to speculate on anyone "dominating" a class for any period of time. There are way to many factors to allow that to happen, after all, we are talking about the development of groups of kids! That being said,you can certainly put Boyle & Highlands up there based on their past accomplishment and the overall state of their respective programs.

 

Bottom line, the 4A class will be very competitive for the period that these teams are present.............it's ridiculous to state that one couldn't beat the other in the future. Last time I checked, HHS, Boyle, CovCath, and LexCath had all won state championships in the last ten years and they had all beat each other at one point or another to get there..........so clearly it could happen again.

 

BTW.....I believe HHS has also totaled 5 state championships since 2000..................00,04,07,08,09 (further evidence of just how close they are :thumb)

I doesn't matter where you put Highlands, 3-4-5-6A, they would be a favorite if not a co-favorite. The program is just that consistant and good. Most of those young men are taught the Highlands way from the time they can put on a helmet.

District 1- Owensboro and Lone Oak will have some very interesting matchups. Madisonville North has plenty of talent and could sneak up on one of these two. Calloway and Hopkins Central have had really good teams in the past, but presently they are down and probably as low as they have ever been. Not a good district for them at this time.

 

District 2- ACS and FS will battle year in and year out for this district.

Couldn't agree more. Although the future at HHS looks very promising with the current JV and freshman teams. With the proposed district alignments, I suppose HHS would meet Boyle/LexCath in the state semis (assuming they advance to that round), and play the West finalist in the finals...

Haven't seen Lone Oak play but many BGP posters have sung their praises for a while now. Would enjoy seeing them in person.

 

Some of the West 4A schools are a bit of an unknown (have seen Franklin Simpson several times), who are the most likely 4A finalists based on history, talent, etc...?
