Jodie Demling tweets that a HS sports bombshell will be dropped tomorrow

Featured Replies

Tweets this afternoon by the Louisville C-J's Jody Demling:

"If what I'm hearing from MULTIPLE sources is correct the high school sports world in Louisville better prepare for a bombshell on Monday."

and

"Not recruiting related. Can't confirm specifics yet but it's a fact the new football realignment is out Monday."

12:04 PM Oct 2nd via TweetDeck

Anybody have any insight into what Jody is referring to?

Speculation elsewhere is that 6A powers Trinity and St X could wind up in the same district. :scared:

That's what a lot of people seem to be hearing. I really think that's the reason it was delayed from Friday. They said they didn't want it to detract from the night's games, and it certainly would have dominated conversation.

I think it's a good thing. What is the downside to this, assuming it's true?

The downside is that the Bowling Green Convention and Visitors Bureau is going to have a bad case of "the Mondays."

I guess if you do stick them in the same district, it will certainly please a lot of the schools who can now annually play for the Class 6A Runnerup Trophy. I guess it is only right to set up your playoffs so that the best teams cannot possibly advance beyond the Regional Final. What a ridiculous thing to do! :irked:

Oh well, at least the X/T programs will reap a monetary bonanza on the Playoff Game. :D

I am curious what the proximity of Trinity is to St. X. Maybe the KHSAA is using geography to put the districts together in Louisville. Are they close to each other?

If you cant beat them.....

....Suppress them with a legislated re-alignment!

If there is no chance for a Trinity - St. X 6A championship how will this impact the KHSAA budgets?

How are the 6A districts now split up in regards to the Louisville teams?

"Frankly my dear, I don't give a DARN!!" as Rhett Butler would put it. :irked:

Male and Fern Creek is quite a distance. Ballard/Eastern and anybody is quite a haul.

Male/Manual/X/ needs to be in the same. With so many JCPS at 5A/4A/3A it has been a little harder to set them.

X/Rocks/Covington Catholic/Lexinton Catholic/Christian Academy/Highlands/Holy Cross/Desales would be a nice District.

If this thing is to happen, I hope that we have a six-team district with X, T, Manual, Male, Ballard, and Eastern, and only the top 2 teams qualify for playoffs. This would give Male and Manual an opportunity to begin having their big rivalry game again on Thanksgiving Day. :D

According to the KHSAA's 2009 financial statements (http://www.khsaa.org/reports/auditdocs/khsaafs2009.pdf), all football playoff revenue amounted to $245K, about 5% of total revenue ($4.5 million).

Larry, don't forget Nashville Montgomery Bell, Indianapolis Cathedral, Cleveland St. Ignatius, Cincinnati St. Xavier, and Columbus Bishop Hartley. Quick, call TARC and get them to order 6 additional new electric buses...3 for T and 3 for X!
