Mississippi 42 Kentucky 35

3 turnovers were the difference though. Total yards were UK-424 and Ole Miss-301 .

What's your point? I maintain. UK's just not very good.

I think the defense is a bigger problem than Hartline. They lost some good players off of a defense that was just decent, if that, last season. They haven't replaced those guys.

Hopefully, we've got some young talent that will mature and this won't be the beginning of a backslide for UK, but rather just a down year in the midst of the continuation of building a consistently competitive football program.

Even if it's not Hartline's fault I'm ready for one of the young guys. The defense is awful so this team cannot realistically be that great. Which leaves me to say that I'd rather get one of the young guys experience and build for the future (next year could be pretty good I think), even if it means only 5 wins. I don't care if that is stupid, I'm ready to see Moss or Newton take over for good so they can get ready to play in the SEC. They're not getting any better sitting on the sidelines.

HT can probably fill in the details but from the Ole Miss post game show it sounded like the Rebels were missing a lot of DBs. Heck, the guy doing the interview after the game didn't even know the name of one of the true frosh DBs that had to go in. I think they were down 4 DBs at one point. I'm fairly confident they came in rated very low in pass D. I know they went into the dreaded prevent once they went up by 22.

Hartline simply isn't the answer unless all you want is a Checkdown Charlie as your qb. Ole Miss let him have anything short he wanted especially late. Yes, he will occasionally make some good throws but he's simply not a qb for the big boy league.

Long pass to King down the UK sideline first half - King beat the coverage and had he been led he goes in for a TD. Same drive later King is on the Ole Miss side and beats his man. He looks over his inside shoulder the ball goes to his outside shoulder. Two blown chances to get a TD. Heck, UK was lucky Hartline threw a bad pass on the next to last play of the half. If it had been caught they would never have gotten the FG attempt off.

You have to watch plays and see what he misses to understand why he is not a SEC qb. With the throws he's completing now we could easily have one of the other 2 in there to make the same throws AND have the arm strength to get the downfield throws. I said previously and this game simply reinforced the belief that UK should have gone with one of the two youngsters even if it meant we do not qualify for the "6 and 6 Bowl" and get ready for next year. Now we'll go into next season with no idea which of our youngsters can play.

BTW game day at Ole Miss is simply outstanding. Beautiful campus. Great people. I got more than a few "Welcome to Oxford" comments from the faithful. Stadium is nice. Not too big. Good seats. Great crowd support.

I agree 100%. The most fun road trip I've EVER been on. I learned two things - If I ever have a son I will make him go there...My daughter, no chance! By the way, I'm the "2 Dollar T" guy on kentuckysportsradio.com this morning. Trust me, my wife said she doesn't wanna even see any other pics from the weekend. Good call on her part. Thanks again HT for all of the tips!

Point is they are better than Ole Miss, they blew it with turnovers. That doesn't take blue glasses to see.

It's easy to feel that way, but that ignores the fact that no matter how we feel about it. It is a business. And Jokers job, as CEO, is to win as many games as he can, every year.

He cannot have accept losses this year for potentially winning more next year. Obviouslly, in his mind, Hartline has shown to be the best able to win right now. Therefore he is the quarterback. Trust me, if he thought his chances were better with one of the others, then they would be starting.

This team has holes in alot of places, and while Hartline is not great, he is an experienced upper classman. Joker knows he is going to be partially measured by keeping the consecutive bowl appearances alive. Scrapping games for future experience is not an option.

Kentucky's defense is not very good-OVC,FCS powerhouse Jacksonville State would blow UK back to Lexington. They would not be able to handle the JS QB.

No problem. Sorry you made it on KSR though :p. I'm really hopeful Shep Smith sues Matt Jones though, that will get me laughing for a good while if that Ambulance Chasing disgrace for a reporter gets screwed.

It would seem to me that the team that won is the better team. Excuses are for losers. And I maintain this UK team is not very good. They are going to get hammered in the SEC.

You know you can give Ole Miss some credit for those turnovers. Two of them were fumbles forced on big hits. The interception falls on Hartline, but the fumbles were forced by hard hitting defense.

Ha ha.
