December 25, 201015 yr Author The QB class this year is deep; Luck, Newton, Mallet and Locker probably all go in round 1. Then you have the Gabbert kid from Mizzou, Tyrod Taylor, Kapernick, Ponder from FSU, Stanzi from Iowa, Andy Dalton from TCU- even Pat Devlin from 1AA Delaware will get a few looks. I also think that, because of his size and the way teams utilize TE's that tight end seems like a better fit for Pryor. If you look at the TE position, he is as big as Luke Stocker is and he is a lot faster. In fact, he is as big as a lot of the TE prospects and he is faster than all of them. Wide receiver would be tougher, but he is a good athlete. Of course, so was Matt Jones.
December 27, 201015 yr He'd be lucky to go before the 4th round! Pretty close to what I'm thinking if he's picked up as a quarterback. I wouldn't be surprised to see Pryor drafted to be a receiver. Regardless, I don't see him getting drafted quick.

December 27, 201015 yr Pryor would have to add a lot of muscle if he wanted to play tight end in the NFL. ??? Have you seen him lately?
December 27, 201015 yr I think you are discounting what type of athlete he is. Sure not everyone can do it I completely agree but he is a freak athlete, little people realize that. Gates did it at TE, I could see TP being a #3 WR at worst. 6'6" 240lbs with a 40inch leap and runs a 4.35 40... Randy Moss doesn't run routes he runs down field. There is a big difference in being a #3 receiver and being a top 10 receiver in the NFL. Athletes have shown time and again it takes a lot more than physical attributes to be a successful pro. Pryor has exhibited none of that. Poor decisions on the field.... Poor decisions off the field. Typically that is not the recipe for an elite caliber player.
December 27, 201015 yr I think Pryor would be a really good project at TE. He might be a decent WR, but I couldn't see him becoming a top 10 one. And without another season in college I couldn't imagine a team giving him time at QB.
December 27, 201015 yr Only pro prospects he has is at a skill position such as wide receiver or wildcat QB and the wildcat is almost extinct in the NFL now. To put this in perspective, Vince Young has struggled to keep his QB job in the league since he was drafted (I know he has had injuries and other issues). Vince Young was a winner in high school and in college, and has proven to be a winner in the NFL, but still he is not guaranteed to be a starter and is in the bottom half of the league as far as QB's are concerned. The two are very similar in what they do, and IMO Vince Young was light years ahead of where Pryor is at. If Pryor is to ever start at QB in this league, it would take years of seasoning and work, and a coach/GM dumb enough to try it. He better go ahead and start working on his route running and pass catching and attempt to be the next Antwan Randel El, or Hines Ward opposed to the next great QB. I would even go as far to say he is not even as good as what Dennis Dixon was and Dixon is clearly a career long backup at best (and yes I know he had the knee injury). No future at QB in this league for Pryor, if he does somehow make it under center one day in an NFL game, I would be shocked.

Typically that is not the recipe for an elite caliber player. I think he has the talent for top 10. Again, people don't realize he was a top 25 basketball recruit in the county as well. If Antonio Gates can do it, TP can do it, he has more athletic ability than Gates, heck people at one time thought Chuck Hayes might go to the NFL. People vastly under estimate what type of athlete he is. Yeah he played QB in high school in Pennsylvania, they wanted the ball in his hands at all times. If he showed up at the combine for WR, his stats would show; 6'6" 240, 4.3 40, 40 inch verticle, smooth hands. In my opinion the only thing that would stop him from playing WR in the NFL would be his unwillingness to learn the position. Brad Smith can do it, Antwaan Randel El, Kordell Stewart, none of them have his size or ability. He would also be signed by an NBA team if he left OSU right now. I remember him saying about a month ago that Devin Ebanks is in the NBA and TP said he dropped 40 on him in AAU ball. I don't know what the future holds for him but my guess is he is getting paid to play a sport.

He does need to learn basic routes but this will work too... first reception as a WR against a Texas corner who had no chance what-so-ever.
December 28, 201015 yr I think he could turn into one of the better wide receivers in the league. Has a good body and he is great with the ball in his hands. Not a great passer, but is a playmaker, playmakers need the ball. If he can develop as a wide receiver I can see him being a very viable weapon for a team, especially opposite a legit number one. Anquan Boldin was also a converted quarterback and I could see Pryor being similar.

It really depends on how much effort he puts into it. He certainly has the tools. You don't really know how big he is until you stand next to him in person, 7 foot wingspan with monster hands. The thing with TP is how much work he wants to put into it. That's why I love Braxton Miller cause he works so hard, he doesn't like being called the #1 QB in the country, he feels he can improve a lot.

Most question what is (or not) going on between the ears. Matt Jones combine numbers: 6'7", 237 lbs, 4.37 40 yd dash, 39.5" vertical.
