Simon Kenton....a realist's perspective?

We have been reading much about how great this year's SK team is? What say you? Do they possess anything to legitimately be worried about? I have read about their running, passing, and kicking prowess. Some of this leads me to believe they may be a real player this year. Is this true? Or, are we being lead to slaughter by blind fandom?

Middletown is as close as SK will see to a Trinity this year and that game was a mismatch.

I think they're most likely the #2 team in a marginal NKY 6A behind Ryle, but like Ryle, they're one dimensional. I think Ryle's dimension is just more talented, but time will tell. They do lead the league in blind faith, though.

RockPride, don't worry no one in Ky. is gonna threaten the Rocks, unless St. X can muster up a rivalry upset your safe.

I think Trinity will be playing SK in the playoffs Ryle is not good enough to beat SK.

Did you not read the topic of the thread..It says a REALIST perspective...

I think they were a great team last year and if they had drew Trinity in the 3 round (instead of X), SK would have won. However, they aren't even close to the team they were a year ago. They are probably a little more like their team from 08', the team which made the finals with a weaker draw....they aren't making a run this year, not without thier ticket.

I think it was just 2 years ago after 7 games SK was hade a record of 3 wins and 4 losses. They had just got crushed by Bonne County 42 -7 at home. They changed their QB and I think a couple O linemen. They won their final 3 games to make the playoffs as #4 seed. They won all of their playoff games on the road to make it to the finals. Do I think they will beat Ryle to win NKY, no. Do I think they can beat X or T, no. Would I over look them, NO.

:thumb: Now that is a realistic view of SK. Well done jarheade5.

SK is a good team and has good athletes. With that being said, they will not compete with T/X. They are not even close to that level yet.

Perhaps something will change, but it appears last year's SK team was much better than this year's. This does not mean that this year's SK is bad, since SK was very, very good last year. It sounds like T is as good or better this year than X was last year, so I can't see how this year's SK team would be able to hang with the best Louisville has to offer in 2010.

Keep in mind, SK was a couple of breaks away from getting in and very possibly winning the state title last year. They were a very good team in 2009.

Not really stirring the pot. Just calling it like I see it. SK had a strong team last year. An athlete like Miles Simpson does not come along that often. They have other good high school athletes on the team this year, but I do not see them beating with T/X. T/X consistely have strong and fast athletes. Not just one, not just two, but numerous athletes that can fill in if someone gets hurt. They compete on a different level.

I don't support SK, Trinty or St. X. This is just my opinion from what I have seen from watching these teams over the years.

Let's call it what it is. They are no match for X or T but will be competitive in the district and could finish anywhere from 1-3. Lawrence is a good quarterback who can hit the open receiver or run at will. SK's receivers seem to have great hands and catch whatever is thrown to them. The defense is solid overall but pass coverage is a weakness, as is anyone running the ball except the QB.

Please sleep easy in Louisville. No worries this year from SK ( or Ryle, Boone, Conner, etc.....)

This is a good analysis of SK. It is hard not to be impressed with Lawrence. He is a very elusive runner and frequently turns potential losses into gainers. He also throws the ball quite well. That being said, nothing else special really stands out about their team. Nothing bad (maybe their running game outside of Lawrence), but nothing overly impressive either.
