The trip call looked somewhat viable on the replay board. The roughing was very questionable. It looked like the ball was still in Palmers hand when contact began. Maybe they thought he drove him to the ground. Guy next to me called it a "Brady" call.

I thought the Ravens got a raw deal with their scheduling. Tough emotional game on a Monday night at NY, then have to turn around on short notice to the division winner. They nearly pulled it off though.

I think the guy yesterday was caught in the nuetral zone. If a D player jumps and continues his rush the refs will blow the play dead themselves. "Unimpeded to the QB." If the player is caught in the nuetral zone, they usually try to get back onside which is even a larger advantage for the O line. I have seen other QBs recognized the free play situation and gone deep many times. It's a smart play. If he's afraid of getting hit, he doesn't belong in the NFL. And personally, I think that is what is going on with CP. He seems to really squirrelly when any one lands around his feet. I just don't think that he has mentally got over his injury issues. If true, that's a problem.

But the WR move on the snap, so it shouldn't be a problem finding #85 or #81 downfield, although the pass protection may be lacking.

 

All in all, the benefits of taking a knee probably outweigh the risk, particularly since there's a chance Carson could take a big hit. But it still bothers me. :lol:

I have to think that it is the coaches that make them do that. In 2008 when Palmer was hurt, and Fitzpatrick did the same thing. It must be a coaching thing, which I agree with you though, I hate it. Every other team takes a shot when a team jumps offside, I don't see why we dont.

There is a BIG difference from being the most accurate and being a winner! Short little dump off passes and screens will help your accuracy, but let's face it in the NFL it is all about wins and Carson has led the Bengals to zero playoff wins.

 

Ken Anderson used to be very accurate too, because he threw screens every other play. The bottom line is I would rather have an accurate passer that can also complete some passes vertically too.

 

The Bengals throw very little screens and dump off passes, so I don't know why you even say that. Now also I hope you realize it takes a whole team effort to get playoff wins. 2005 he got hurt, so who knows what happens then. 2006 he did everything he could to get them in the playoffs, but special teams decided to choke. Who knows what happens if they make the playoffs. 2007 they just didn't get it done, no excuses. 2008 he played 2 games. Then last year they made it, but guess what happens the kicker chokes again. You don't see teams who win playoff games having their kickers choke. Brees, Brady, and people never would have done much in the playoffs if their kickers choked. It takes all three phases to make the playoffs and win in the playoffs.

Carson Palmer just isn't a very good NFL QB. He'll hit people on short patterns, but other than that I wouldn't expect much out of him.

 

See stuf likke this gets to me. He has a winning record in the NFL as a QB, but he is not a very good NFL QB? If you want to see bad QB's look at Carolina, Cleveland, KC, San Fran, Buffalo, etc. People like Klingler, Akili, Tim Couch, are not very good NFL QB's. Palmer is still in the top half of the league when it comdes to QB's.

 

Most even NFL people still consider him to be one of the better QB's in the NFL. The only ones who really don't are people around here, which I think we have seen that people around here have to be some of the most negative people around. From Reds fans, to Bengal fans, etc. If a person is not an All Star, people say they are just not very good. I think the main reason people say stuff about Palmer now, is because he is not going to be as great as Brady, Manning like we first thought he would be. In 2005 and 2006 he never missed a pass, and yes now he does some. However that does not mean he is not a good QB now. He is just not going to be as good as some future hall of famers. He is good enough to help this team win games, and good enough to drive the team down for game winning scores when we will need it. That my friend is not a bad NFL QB, its hard to find QB's like that.
