September 14, 201016 yr So when Boldin was killing them why didn't they switch? Who cares if he shuts down D. Mason? Kind of wondering that myself. Revis can shut down anyone and certainly could have taken Boldin out of the game. He's been assigned to a specific WR many times in the past, so wondering why he only stayed to one side of the field. Obviously the Ravens could see that also, put Boldin to the other side, and let Revis shut down a guy that another of their corners probably could have handled just fine.
September 14, 201016 yr The Jets did a good job of moving Boldin around and changing matchups. They ran some rub routes when Revis was guarding him, and the Jets were switching on those some like you would on a screen in a basketball. They also, did a good job of using motion too. They created situations where Boldin was going against the other two CBs the Jets had in the game, because Cromartie could stop any quality receiver from catching a deep ball.

I have no idea why Revis did not stay with him the entire time. Maybe they did not feel he was in shape enough yet???? But it still did not matter. When the situation came about where Revis was covering Boldin, they kept on throwing at Kyle Wilson and Antonio Cromartie and the Jets were struggling. While the other WR numbers were not as good as Boldin's numbers, there were penalties accessed that do not reflect all of Flacco's passing yards.
September 14, 201016 yr Author Teams are gonna line up and run it at the Jets a little better now that Jenkins is done for the season.
September 14, 201016 yr Just as the Jets were a bit overhyped for a 9-7 team that snuck into the playoffs last year, I think it's very premature to bury them after a one-point loss in the season opener. That defense is most likely going to keep them in every game, and there aren't many teams as stout against the run as Baltimore. And still, had it not been for the pass interference that set Baltimore up for their only TD, it's likely the Jets would have won last night. Sanchez is a huge question mark, but I don't see doom and gloom at this point. I still think they'll be right in the thick of the playoff hunt.
September 14, 201016 yr I wouldn't give up on Sanchez, but he's one of the biggest reasons why they won't win the super bowl THIS year.
September 14, 201016 yr Teams are gonna line up and run it at the Jets a little better now that Jenkins is done for the season. They only had him for six games last year and still finished 8th in the league in rushing yards allowed per game and 4th in rushing yards per attempt. It's a big loss, but they still have a great defense without him.

September 14, 201016 yr They left Revis taking on whichever receiver came to his side of the field and left him isolated. Sometimes it was Boldin. It wasn't Boldin that was dominating as much as it was whoever was going up against Cromartie and Wilson. That's partly because the Jets were sending the house every down and leaving them on and island. Revis is the only one who can do that.
September 14, 201016 yr What do ya'll think about Shonn Greene's performance? Where does that leave LT?
September 14, 201016 yr Agree, but he's gonna be missed. And will make them more vulnerable than had he been healthy. He is a serious run plug. His absence hurt them last year as well, but they're loaded with talent, have a good scheme, and a nasty attitude...they'll still be stout against the run. But, no doubt, they'd be a better defense with him in the lineup for 16 games. Maybe they'll inquire about Haynesworth... ...nah...he don't like the 3-4.
September 14, 201016 yr What do ya'll think about Shonn Greene's performance? Where does that leave LT? I think Greene is still the #1 guy, but he's on the watch list now, IMO. He did nothing impressive and fumbled twice, while LT looked good. First of all, if Greene continues to struggle with ball security, he'll definitely be out I would think. Otherwise, if he doesn't produce and LT continues to look good, he could see his % of touches go down. Considering that LT is a much better pass catcher, he's probably going to be the third down guy...and he could end up being the guy on the field in the pressure situations late in close games.
September 14, 201016 yr Jets have a bad offense with a below average QB. Even last year during their run Sanchez wasn't that good and didn't show anything that led me to believe this year would be any different.
September 14, 201016 yr They'll be okay. Good o-line and a pair of good runners, not to mention Edwards and Cotchery on the outside. The Ravens D was very under hyped coming into this game, and seemed like the only talk about Baltimore was about their offense for a change. However, last night showed the D is still the classic Baltimore D we are used to seeing. Ray Lewis still looks to be in real good form, and guys are really picking up the slack in the secondary. I think last night was more of a testament to the Baltimore D than it was the Jets Offense. With a defense as good as the Jets, the running game will provide enough to carry them. They are not a Super Bowl team but I can see them being top 3-5 in the AFC when its all said and done.
September 19, 201016 yr Jets start off this game looking like crap again. They don't impress me at all. I don't think they will, but it wouldn't surprise me if they finished 3rd in the division.
