From you previous posts, one would assume that with that number of boys, they should be fielding a better-than decent football team, and probably all sports teams. there isnt really any criteria per se, but some schools just have a certain reputation. Lawrence North is Basketball, Trinity is Football, Highlands is Football, Scott County in Basketball. In college Kentucky is a basketball school, Notre Dame is football school, Cal State Fullerton is a baseball school. That part of the debate is not important though. The enrollment and the result are. And of course this "theory" does not always work, but it does a lot of the time.

There are 2 schools and everything else is held equal besides the enrollment. Would you rather choose from the school of 1400 boys or the school of 1200 boys and why?

 

My answer 1400 because it simply gives 200 more boys to choose from.

Just thought I'd lighten this thread up a bit!

Explain the ineptitude of Dunbar then. They have the largest enrollment of any public school and they are at best mediocre, regularly getting beaten by smaller schools.

I have said many of times that this isn't going to work 100% of the time. I am simply saying everything else held equal, it is an advantage to have a bigger enrollment. Enrollment is obviously not the only thing that makes a high school team. Rockmom listed many things in an earlier post about what makes a program good.

 

Speaking of Dunbar though, they have the advantage of a big enrollment and still can't win. Trinity and St. X have a big enrollment and do what they should be doing which is winning state championships every year. Does anyone else honestly see any other team winning 6a anytime soon? It's one or the other.

Very briefly, we don't "pick" our boys. They pick us. Your argument can sometimes hold water when things aren't being compared apples to apples. Jefferson County is open enrollment. Our tuition is in excess of $9,000, if you qualify for the max financial aid (given by an independent third party), at most, you qualify for half. I ask you this, which is less expensive, free or $4,500+?
