Texas schools rejects 4-year old because of Lesbian parents

It is a position that was derived over a long period of time and much consternation. But as Woodsider said, it has a lot to do with genetics and consenting adults. I think Paul was the biggest contributor to the "sin" notion and with him there is also the cultural/historical context that you have consider. How were the Greeks treating young boys and what was going on with slaves, I think there is a lot more two it than just two men or two women who fall in love.

I am not saying that I am right, but where I finally ended up was that I was going to love people just the same and try to show them God's love and IF it were a sin, the Holy Spirit would do the convicting - no need for me to convict or for that matter condemn.

There you go again Ace. We shouldn't have to think and come up with some excuse for homosexuallity to be ok in Gods eyes. Just because you point out to a person they are sinning doesn't mean you are convicting or judging them. God will do that and He is a loving God as you mention so much, but he is also a strict about his laws and what you can and cannot be to get into heaven. There are several places in the Bible that state homosexuals cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. Take you're pick, Old or New Testament and you will find them. Our culture has gotten so caught up in being politically correct about everything it has crept into our churches also. God is love and wants everyone to come to him but He is also a vengeful God and will send people to hell. Let me change that last sentence, people will send themselves to hell because of their actions.

I tend to side with Ace on this issue and I don't know many homosexual people but the ones I know it was obvious from a very young age that they were a little different if you will. As a sin you are aware it is no more or less of a sin than pre-marital sex, stealing, swearing, adultery etc? Why is this such a big deal? If private schools held the same standards for all of their students for all sins the Halls would be awfully empty.

Can you please point out where it says specifically that homosexuals cannot enter the kingdom of heaven? It has nothing to do about being politically correct. I am obviously not one to pull punches when I disagree. It is how I feel.

1 Corinthians 6:9 says the unrightous will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Then it lists several sinful acts and one of them is homosexuallity.

Many people put their kids in private schools for the educational aspect. CCH has non-Catholics as I'm sure T and X do. The religious aspect is not their priority.

Maybe (and we don't know) this couple didn't know that the school would have such a reaction.

Private schools are private for a reason and this school has chosen to not educate a child based on the parents. I think that's a shame.

And, then...these could be Christian Lesbians who want their child to be schooled in a Christian tradition. Lesbian/Homosexual...it doesn't mean one isn't Christian.

While I disagree with the decision the school made on a variety of levels I certainly believe in the their right to make said decision being a private institution. It was also a little refreshing to see such a mature and intelligent response from the parents as well.

Perfectly stated!

In complete agreement on loving homosexuals, or any people with any kind of sin whatsoever. But I don't see calling something sin as always necessarily condemning. As I've said before, sometimes the most loving thing a person can do is point out flaws/sins/behavioral problems in the life of another. In this instance, I've read somewhere that the average lifespan of a male homosexual is something like 45-years-of-age. If true, it would be unloving of me if I didn't try to get them out of a lifestyle with a less-than-appealing mortality rate.

Wonder if that lifespan would increase if we allowed them to marry? I would also think that lifespan might have something to do with other bad choices because of the stigma society historically placed on gays and lesbians.

Here is the thing for me - there are two lesbian women in my church, my guess is mid to late 50s. They are also probably THE most committed Christians I know. One runs our Infant Resource Center and the other is the head of our missions team. Both have done so much to help the people of this community, and a Christian Church in Morocco and one just returned from Zambia where they did missions and visited the Maternity Ward that she spearheaded the raising of 50,000.00 to build. Both have at least as much education as I do (one is a psychologist). So now, tell me what good it will do my relationship with them and their relationship with the Lord - which I will venture to say is closer than mine - for me to tell them that I think they are living in sin. They read the same Bible I do, hear the same sermons (although our preacher preaches inclusivity). It will do nothing other than harm our relationship. I am not going to change their mind (even if I thought I should).

FWIW, were I to have to choose a "couple" to raise my children in my absence - these two ladies would be at or near the top. So no matter what they do "to the least of these" God is sending them to hell? I just don't see it. However, I am more than willing to admit that I could be wrong.

You are right it does, and all I can say is that Paul is writing from his world view. Paul also says that people should not marry, yet, I see Christians getting married every day. Paul says that women should be quiet in church - there are many, many denominations that allow women to be ministers, even to men their own age.

Paul also says that the "wifes body does not 'belong' to her, but also to her husband". At least in my house, "no" still means "no" regardless of what Paul says about my wife's body also being mine. Paul says not to take people to court, yet Christians do it every day.

Paul says not to associate with anyone who call himself a brother but is sexually immoral or GREEDY, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

Jesus says - in contradiction to Paul - I have not come to call the righteous but the unrighteous. He ate with sinners, even the loathesome tax collectors. Jesus was more at home with the sinners that the religious right of his day. What do I do when Paul contradicts the teachings of Jesus?

Paul also says (still in 1 Corinthians 6) that "Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is beneficial." What does that mean exactly. What does Paul say about divorce, what does Jesus say.

Paul does us not eat with sinners but then he goes on to say that if a believing wife stays with her unbelieving husband, the husband will be sanctified through her - what does sanctified mean here.

I post this not to be argumentative but to show why it is not so easy for me to simply say, well Paul said, so there you go.

Unsure about the explanation for the young lifespan. All I know is that it's real--that homosexual men live considerably shorter lives than heterosexual men.

Not questioning the faith of the women you mentioned, and while I understand why someone in your position would want to avoid the kind of conversation I suggested, I still believe it would be my obligation (if I were in your shoes) to somehow, someway bring the matter up. As I said before, scripture is clear on this issue.

As for eternity, thankfully that's not my job to determine. God knows the thoughts and attitude of the heart. But I do believe these ladies, as servant-hearted as you indicate they are, are living in contradiction to the will of God.

I would venture that if you're a Muslim lesbian couple, your child's options are fairly limited.

Heck I'm half lesbian myself.

Nothing like the occasional South Park reference to lighten up a serious thread!

I'll explain this in one word: TEXAS

You can bet your lunch money that before they denied entry into the school they checked the books looking for a reason to invoke corporate punishment.
