Bengals - Antonio Bryant

Andre Smith was a consensus top 10 pick. You act like they took Darius Heyward-Bey or something. He hasn't turned out, but bust happen.

And, it's only been one season, I wouldn't call a guy who missed half of his 1st year due to injury a bust....For all we know if Smith gets himself in shape, he may be starting week 1.

I expect the #6 overall pick to be productive and start in his first year especially at his position.

I expect a 2nd rounder to do about what Maualuga did but hopefully not get a DUI when he had a reputation as a drinker.

I expect a 3rd round pick and prolific pass catching TE not to make the team worry enough about a pass catching TE that they draft a guy who missed an entire season the year before b/c of injury in the 1st round when their need for WR's was so obvious that they signed 3 in the offseason and drafted one in the 3rd round of this year after drafting a ton of them since they let TJ walk and signed one just last year.

I expect the 4th round center to be good enough not to be replaced by a 7th round center the following year.

Coffman was a poor selection I will give you that. I would have called him garbage at any point last year and going forward. JMO.

True. People called Mario Williams a bust after year one, and he's turned out pretty decently.

Geno Atkins should be starting!

Andre Smith was consensus top 10 before he had a terrible combine which he left early without telling the people in charge. He had a terrible pro day too and fell in most peoples eyes. He also wasn't allowed to play in his last college game b/c of an agent. I'm just saying I'm not all that excited that he'll be a really good pro. I think it's hard to be excited about last years draft if you draft a tackle 6th overall and he doesn't start one game as a rookie and he's too out of shape to practice for the entire training camp.

I hope he is. He could be the difference in their future.

League source: Bengals ready to release Antonio Bryant

The Bengals are "prepared to move on" without Antonio Bryant, a league source tells Newsday's Bob Glauber.

The headline on Glauber's report says that the Bengals are "ready to release" Bryant, but the actual article isn't that strong. If the Bengals are going to cut Bryant, they'd have to eat the $7 million signing bonus they gave him as a free agent in March. Bryant has participated in just one day of training camp due to his troublesome knee and has lost his starting job to Terrell Owens. No matter what happens, the Bengals made an epic mistake by signing Bryant. Aug. 26 - 2:11 pm et

This could be one of the Bengals worst mistakes in quite some time.

Must be nice, one day of work and you get 7 million.

Yea, but pull off 40% for federal, state and local taxes and 10% for his agent. Antonio nets 3.5 million net (give or take) for one day of work.

The Bengals though are still out 7 million regardless though. At this point, the Bengals need to amit their mistake and cut their losses with this guy. It was just a bad signing overall given the condition of his knee.

Poor thing. Considering I'll spend the next 40 or 50 years trying to match that take home, I'll feel sorry for him later.
