August 19, 201016 yr Incredible comeback! Never in my wildest dreams, after the Cards series, did I think we'd be three games up at this point. All the position players, sans Gomes, performed very well last night.
August 19, 201016 yr Gomes can't reach the outer half with a boat oar. Hips fly open, pulls off anything middle/out. First half of the season, people were dumb enough to challenge him on the inner half. Now, he seldom sees a pitch there unless it's a mistake. I'd like to see Heisey and Nix start to log innings out there in lieu of Gomes.

August 19, 201016 yr Someone has to go when they activate Wood. Who goes? Is Fisher still up? If so, I'd say him...
August 19, 201016 yr Is Fisher still up? If so, I'd say him... Agreed. Bray is the only lefty besides Rhodes so he can't go. Oh, and yes, he is still up.
August 19, 201016 yr Is Fisher still up? If so, I'd say him... Good call. I forgot he was up. With Leake going to the pen that would make sense. However, it seems like the Reds are a little thick in outfielders so that may be a place to look.

August 19, 201016 yr I went to a Reds game last year in the 2nd half of the season. The Reds were about 12 games out of 1st. There were about 12,000 fans in GABP. Rosales was playing 3rd base. A ball was fouled into the stands near where the ball boy sits. Rosales ran full speed, never broke stride and dove two rows into the stands to make the catch. The current makeup of the Reds is obviously great, but I would love to see how amped up Rosales would be in a pennant race in front of a full house.

August 19, 201016 yr More importantly, what do they do when Harang and Cabrera are back? I think Walt is not looking forward to that decision. With Cabrera an OF would have to go as they are already short on infielders. My guess is they hope Harang isn't ready to come back.

He would set the land record for speed around the bases on a HR.

Keep a guy out that has been here and been a workhorse for so many awful years? Or, get rid of someone that has helped you in this run to the playoffs? Not an easy decision. Good news is they have no reason to rush Harang back. Spring training 2011 would be okay. I guess Hubbs and Heisey are the only OF'ers with options.
